Story
Throughout my life, I’ve always struggled in dealing with my anger issues. There were days in the past where my emotions and temper would get the best of me, and it would usually not end up too well. My anger issues got so bad that, all my relationships started falling apart, and my best friend, who was once very close to me, didn’t even want to talk to me anymore.

A great introduction to Buddhist Philosophy
Reviewed: 05-26-21
I have studied Buddhism, and am a firm believer in the benefits of this philosophy. Even though I am not a beginner, this book was a great refresher and very compelling to encourage others to investigate Buddhist philosophy for better peace of mind and anger management. It was informative on the basics of Buddhist philosophy for those who may not know much about it. But more important it emphasized how Buddhist philosophy can improve anyone's life.

Story
Golf is a Zen sport. If you leave the present moment, you will likely feel the immediate karmic consequences like a hammer hitting your thumb. In The Mindful Golfer: How to Lower Your Handicap While Raising Your Consciousness, Stephen Altschuler helps you nail it all right - hard and true and into another level of surrender, satisfaction, and, self-awareness. He uses the tools of Zen to raise the game several notches on the ladder of consciousness.

Love mixing Buddhist Philosophy with Golf
Reviewed: 04-14-21
I love how this book interweaves Buddhist philosophy with Golf. Mental attitude is so important in golf, and what better way to get your thoughts under control than with the centuries old wisdom of Buddhas insights. Non attachment to your results is actually a great way to handle golf - the good the bad and the ugly. If you can take this book's recommendations to heart, I believe it will make you a better golfer - and have a better disposition in life as well. Really enjoyed it.

A great reminder about the necessity of Meditation
Reviewed: 02-28-21
I have meditated on an off through my life, but this clear case for meditation made me re-commit to making meditation a daily habit again. I am now motivated to start my practice again, and remember that when I was meditating I was a clearer thinker and much more at peace with any situation that arose. Thanks for the inspiration and kick start to return to this healthy practice.

Story
From multiple New York Times best-selling author, neuroscientist, and "new atheist" Sam Harris, Waking Up is for the 30 percent of Americans who follow no religion, but who suspect that Jesus, Buddha, Lao Tzu, Rumi, and the other saints and sages of history could not have all been epileptics, schizophrenics, or frauds.

Sam Harris is Right on

Sam Harris brings up very true points about religion and its fallacies and the potential for peace of mind if only people can realize certain truths about human nature and capabilities.
Taking responsibility, expanding your horizons, understanding the nature of your mind...all these concepts ring true. I found the book to be eye opening and learned quite a bit from Sam's perspective. Would recommend highly.
