gave up listening

Virtual voice is not a good choice for this type of book. Would have enjoyed it more with an actual narrator(s).

Story
Jody Asher had a plan. Her charismatic husband, Martin, would be a political icon. She, the charming wife, would fuel his success. For fifteen congressional terms, they were the golden couple on the Hill. Life was good. Until he wasn’t. Martin’s secret affair with a young staffer doesn’t bother Jody personally. But professionally? It’s a legacy killer. Soon a reporter gets word of this scandal in the making, and Martin’s indiscretions threaten to ruin everything Jody has accomplished.

Loved it!

As someone who was previously involved in politics I absolutely LOVED this book. I didn't like any of the characters and that was perfect for the story. IF I had like any of them, this book would have been less enjoyable for me. Of course, I don't have a high opinion of politicians and/or their families to begin with...comes from being involved in politics previously.
Ms. Rouda completely captured the true nature of most (not all, but most) political families in my opinion. And although the book was not what I was expecting, I couldn't put it down. I had to find out what was going to happen to Jody Asher.
I can understand why this book would not be to everyone's taste, but for those of us that have taken on corruption in politics...it's perfect! We can laugh at and enjoy the problems that come from greed, ambition, selfishness, narcissism, etc. I won't give any details, but I do suggest anyone wanting a realistic piece of fiction of what goes in Washington, D.C. give it a try!
