Story
Lila Nash is on the verge of landing her dream job - working as a prosecutor under the Hennepin County Attorney - and has settled into a happy life with her boyfriend, Joe Talbert. But when a woman is pulled from the Mississippi River, barely alive, things in the office take a personal turn. The police believe the woman’s assailant is local photographer Gavin Spenser, but the case quickly flounders as the evidence wears thin. It seems Gavin saw this investigation coming - and no one can imagine how carefully he has prepared.

The narrator was excellent. The story was interesting. I am not yet bonding with the main character but probably will as I get to know him better.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

This is a fine story. the people in the story are about the same age as I am. or maybe it's as I was when I was young.
it is very believable and feels like real life. a reminiscence more than a short story.
but in fact it does end up being a very good tale which will hold your attention and has the capacity to shock.
very believable, very real. It is a very good story with depth and well developed characters.

Confusing, a bit absurd

this is a bit much. there are so many crazy conspiracy theories. and so many different characters. it is hard to either have faith in the story or keep track of the dozens of different characters. The voices are amazing with something that feels a little like three-dimensional sound.

Though the book is not unique, I enjoyed watching the predictable story unfold. We have seen much of this in the humans, Hominids tryptech and many of the plot elements in thousands of books. And yet the science and research is good and redeemed the book.

She was an all-American girl who became a legend of unparalleled stature. She inspired the adoration of millions, and her life has beguiled generations of fans and fellow artists. The story of Norma Jeane Baker, better known by her studio name, Marilyn Monroe, has been dissected for more than three decades, but never has it been captured in a narrative as breathtaking and transforming as Blonde.

Most know the story line. what you get here are the little things you might have missed. Not objective but a book like this is not about changing minds. It's about history, about what happened. He gets his facts right even if he is clearly a liberal.
