Story
Quito Cruz might be a genius piano player and composer in New York City now but it doesn’t mean that he’s any closer to his Broadway dream. Although Quito knows what the problem is. Or rather who. Because ever since that night in college—with pretty-boy jock Emmett Aoki—his inspiration has been completely MIA . . . Now Quito’s dad wants him to put on a charity performance in his hometown. And there’s one hella big string attached: convince Emmett—now one of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities—to perform.

Beautiful Storytelling
Reviewed: 02-02-24
I can guarantee this read is far better as an audio book than a traditional read simply because Aaron J. Albano brings all of it to life so beautifully. His character voices and his singing vocals bring the reader along on this journey where you become invested in the characters. Some of it may be a little predictable but the glimpse into Filipino culture, the romantic storyline, colorful characters and the life experiences in here make it a wonderful read.

Moving and Inspiring

Such a moving tribute about Simu’s family’s journey and brave storytelling about his life thus far. As an Asian American actress born to immigrant parents, I understand the struggle to go against your parents’ dreams to carve your own path. So much was relatable. Simu’s self deprecating humor, humility, honesty, and heart shined through in this audiobook. It was an astounding piece to listen to. Already a fan before, I’m cheering for him even more now.

Jen Hatmaker brings her book to life so beautifully and with so much genuine love and humor. It felt like listening to a good friend’s stories in her kitchen while sipping coffee and enjoying delicious pastries. Highly enjoyable with the bonus bits of this audio book!
