I discovered this book while at a Saw Mill River Audubon event in Chappaqua NY. It was announced that Tina would be a guest speaker at the organizations Annual Dinner Sunday April 6, 2025 at Travelers Rest in Millwood NY. As I was listening to Tina’s Journey read by Tia Rider I was captivated by the story of how she and her colleagues worked to Return the majestic bald eagle back into the wild . I got emotionally welling up with tears as she spoke about returning decades later to where she did her summer research in the two summers in 1976 and 1977. I look forward to meeting Tina in person in April .

Story
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

A poignant Story
Reviewed: 10-28-24
I had thought I had known everything there was to know about Lisa Marie and Elvis and this memoir is an eye opener. Hearing the story through the voices of Riley , Julia Roberts and hearing Lisa Marie's own voice in some of the audio clips were powerful. There is a letter that Riley wrote to Lisa that was read at Lisa's funeral by Riley's father Danny that summed up their relationship. After listening to her letter I called my own mother and tried to have a conversation with her about our relationship. If you think you know all there is to know listening to this memoir will leave you sad but hopeful. It is helping me to heal the relationship I have with my own Mom.

Story
Ali Morris is a professional organizer whose own life is a mess. Her mom died two years ago, then her husband left, and she hasn’t worn pants with a zipper in longer than she cares to remember. No one is more surprised than Ali when the first time she takes off her wedding ring and puts on pants with hardware—overalls count, right?—she meets someone. Or rather, her dog claims a man for her, in the same way he claimed his favorite of her three children: by peeing on him. Ethan smiles at Ali like her pants are just right—like he likes what he sees.

Henry Winkler, launched into prominence as “The Fonz” in the beloved Happy Days, has transcended the role that made him who he is. Brilliant, funny, and widely regarded as the nicest man in Hollywood (though he would be the first to tell you that it’s simply not the case, he’s really just grateful to be here), Henry shares in this achingly vulnerable memoir the disheartening truth of his childhood, the difficulties of a life with severe dyslexia, the pressures of a role that takes on a life of its own, and the path forward once your wildest dream seems behind you.

An Inspiration
Reviewed: 04-26-24
I grew up in the 1960's and 1970's being passed up from grade to grade not knowing I had a learning disability . I had trouble reading the printed word in books and not until I found out that Henry has dyslexia as well did I start to feel that someone out there knew how I was feeling. The Fonz was someone I grew up watching, There is so much more to Henry than Arthur Fonzerelli and Henry takes you on a journey that keeps you listening and not wanting to stop . Listening to Henry narrate his life story and his wife Stacey being a part of the Audible book as well kept me glued to the book. I listen to almost everything on Audible and I am recommending this book whole heartedly and thank you Henry for being the inspiration for me now that I didn't have growing up.

As soon as Last Call at the Local was released , January 2, 2024 I purchased the book and finished listening in two days. I couldn't stop listening and would listen everywhere. The car and at home. I love the talent of the narrators Karissa Vacker and Gary Furlong who make Sarah's characters come to life. Sarah's writing is brilliantly entertaining and as I listened I wound up finding myself routing for the characters . One needs to listen very closely at times and the story kept me on the edge of my seat. I have listened to Sarah's other two books and they are all unique. Thank you Sarah , Karissa and Gary for the entertainment.

Story
Gary John Bishop has helped millions of people break free of self-sabotaging behaviors. Yet we all seem to feel like we’re failing at this thing called parenting. Common wisdom isn’t working—our kids are struggling. Gary argues we don’t need more tips, tricks, and techniques, we need an overhaul of who we are. We’re never going to measure up to the “perfect parent” model we’ve built up in our heads—a Frankenstein version of mom and dad cobbled together from our childhoods, our parents, cultural ideals, social media, and everything in between.

I will listen to this book again and green something different each time I listen.Thank you Gary for giving me the tools to to support my daughters move to her own apartment within the next year. I have seen James Taylor perform live a couple of times at Jones Beach in NY and enjoyed his book very much. I loved the guitar playing sprinkled throughout the book. Learning about how the songs came to be created were especially helpful in understanding the background. Grateful to the hospitals and centers that helped James along the way. I hope to see James perform live again soon.
