As most comedy, it stings it makes you laugh, it invites you to think and it’s an opinion. 20 years later, it was a rewarding trip back in time.

An unnecessarily alarmist and urgent tone takes away from the subject matter of the book. Some would counter the tone and urgency to match the subject matter being discussed, but I found it to be a distraction and detractor. The concerns outline and the challenges they create are skewed toward western and privileged people with a nod to anyone else.

The book is informative and provides a good starting point for anyone wanting to learn more on the topic or those looking to delve deeper.

The author does not spend much time on personal ownership of the issue(catering to its intended reader?) and perhaps infers individual accountability by laying out the situation we are in. I believe he is avoiding the topic and even speaks to individual ownership of change paling in comparison to meaningful gov't and corporate initiatives. An unfortunate and lazy western sentiment -"someone should do something about that".

While I enjoyed the narrator, he may not have been the best choice for this type of story. The fear, dread and suspense where not captured by his story telling enough times to make this book unenjoyable.

Listeners may be disappointed by the similar narrative to book 1, but “patience” is rewarded for those invested in this world.

With that said, the book provides a better understanding of Beacon and the larger struggle of the remaining people in Beacon, UK and world.

An entertaining listen
