Story
When the Germans march into Denmark, Baron Henrik Ahlefeldt exchanges his nobility for anonymity, assuming a new identity so he can secretly row messages for the Danish Resistance across the waters to Sweden. American physicist Dr. Else Jensen refuses to leave Copenhagen and abandon her research-her life's dream. While printing resistance newspapers, she hears stories of the movement's legendary Havmand-the merman-and wonders if the mysterious and silent shipyard worker living in the same boardinghouse has something to hide.

The narrator used very odd slow voices for all of the male characters. I gave up listening and bought the kindle book. The story is great.

Story
Paxton never thought he’d be working for Cloud, the giant tech company that’s eaten much of the American economy. Much less that he’d be moving into one of the company’s sprawling live-work facilities. But compared to what’s left outside, Cloud’s bland chainstore life of gleaming entertainment halls, open-plan offices, and vast warehouses...well, it doesn’t seem so bad. It’s more than anyone else is offering.

Sooooo Preachy
Reviewed: 01-23-23
I'm so sick of preachy tv, news, social media and fiction as well. I read and listen to fiction to escape not be preached at from the altar of social justice. It used to just be Christian fiction with this problem, now secular fiction is getting as bad or worse. This story, despite great skill, never got off the ground.

What a wonderful story! I already liked this author but I was even more excited when I saw that Stacy Glemboski was the narrator. This is an unbeatable combination. The story was heart wrenching and hopeful.

Story
Managing stress comes down to understanding - and solving - what therapist Megan Bruneau calls the stress equation. According to Bruneau, stress is the result of thinking that your perceived responsibilities are greater than your perceived capacity to take them on. In this workshop, Bruneau tells us how to change those perceptions to manage stress, whether it originates at the office or elsewhere. From understanding that you can’t do everything yourself to taking time to boost your mood, Bruneau identifies concrete ways to help you de-stress and handle life’s messiness.

Patronizing

Some good advice, but highly patronizing. Most people underestimate what those of us with ADHD are actually capable of, we just need tools and systems that work.

Ricky Fields has just met the girl of his dreams. The only problem is she’s been shunned by so many Christians she can’t seem to trust anyone anymore. Especially him. Oh, yeah. There’s one more problem. This one might be even harder to overcome.... His mother hates her.

Story
In the near future, the constitution is outlawed, the government is ceremonial at best, and the country is about to lose her name. No one knows how this happened or why America prostrated herself to the kind of foreign forces who would impose obedience through compliance. Resistors call the occupation “creeping death”. Those countries grabbing at the reins of power see it for what it is - a full-scale invasion.

Interesting plot, but female characters are more like male characters with boobs. the main character is interesting and likeable. the plot is definitely interesting and hits its mark, but I think some stuff is just over the top, like his attitude changing and the emotionless cardboard cutouts of annoying women in the book.
