Story
Audie Award, Humor, 2016. In Furiously Happy, number-one New York Times best-selling author Jenny Lawson explores her lifelong battle with mental illness. A hysterical, ridiculous book about crippling depression and anxiety? That sounds like a terrible idea. But terrible ideas are what Jenny does best.

More than I expected...

This book is poignant, straightforward and heartfelt. Leah does an excellent job of explaining her journey in a way that you feel you're there with her. She weaves through the complexities of Scientology with ease, and focuses more on the facts and her related emotions than just outright bashing the church.

Yes, Please!

First of all, this is not the kind of book I'd ever typically read. I like watching standup comedy, but I don't necessarily want to read several chapters of it. Secondly, as much as like comedians/comediennes - I've never been a huge Amy Poehler fan. So the fact that I even bought this book is already odd. And I am SO glad I did! This book is lighthearted and poignant, sincere and silly - and so much more than funny, although it's that too. I think what surprises me the most is just how good her writing is. You can tell she cared about writing this book and put her heart into it. Finishing it felt like ending a great night spent with a good girlfriend - I didn't want it to end, but I felt special to be a part of it.

Story
Moments after Lisbeth is born, she’s taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie, a young mother separated from her own infant son in order to care for her tiny charge. Thus begins an intense relationship that will shape both of their lives for decades to come. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant, slave-owning father.

Amazingly beautiful story. The characters are so rich. The narration was extremely well done. I didn't want it to end!
