writing is pristine
Reviewed: 01-25-25
the author has achieved a Pulitzer for other pieces, and I can see why. the writing is pristine and incredibly entertaining... as good or better as my very favorite novels. the voice over talent compliments the writing and the story. his pronunciation is impeccable of Maine locations. even for us natives, pronouncing them can be challenging at times. this is the authors most recent work, and I am so hopeful he will entertain more fictional travels, whether it is Maine or other settings. he brings alive the location, and colorful characters. this story keeps you guessing with the various endings being suggested. thank you for your work.

You want to fight with her and for her
Reviewed: 09-03-24
this is a book that is starteling in its brutality. It starts off slow, but roars into hypspeed as you round the half way point. I seldom finish a book in one sitting, but I couldn't stop listening until the end. Part of me couldn't believe that some of the violence upon her person was going to happen, but it did. She was neither complacent or stupid. She learned to be a survivor. Very satisfying story.

The narrator's diverse voice are both amazing and incredible ... but it's the story that steals the show. I've become a huge fan of Robinson and his wit and magical writing. This book went to the dogs as they are the true heroes whether protecting their tribe or sowing their seeds. Thank you Jeremy for a wonderful journey... a fellow neighbor and dog appreciator from Maine.

The great humor that the characters exhibit
Reviewed: 06-22-24
I want to join Team Munk, as in Chipmunk. This is anything but a comedy, but I laughed and smiled more in this story than I have for many stand-ups. You grow to love the primary character along with his newfound friends. If you have not read the previous book in this series, rest assured this is an incredible stand-alone novel. There is much horror when you digest how many thousands of people were killed. There is nothing gory, but it does get your attention. The narration was beautiful, each character had their own unique vocal niche. Read this book and enjoy the ride.

His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. I don't think there isn't a Stephen King book that I haven't enjoyed, but Prince Charlie is pure magic and wonder. I hesitated to start this book because of the length, and now I regret that it ended. I loved the characters and I loved the story. Thank you Mr. King from a fellow Mainer.

A call for help from a former colleague leads Maine game warden investigator Mike Bowditch and his girlfriend Stacey Stevens on a sea kayaking trip to a research station far off the coast. Stacey spent summers interning on the island, a sanctuary for endangered seabirds, and they are shocked by the atmosphere of tension they encounter when they come ashore. The biologists are being threatened and stalked by a mysterious boatman who they suspect is trespassing on the refuge late at night.

Living in Maine, I perhaps enjoy Paul Doiron's stories better than many folks from away. Doiron creates magical images with his words, leaving me, at least, wondering who dun it until the very end. I'm always wanting more and can't wait for the next chapter in Warden Mike's new adventure.

One doesn't think of Stephen King's stories as beautiful, but rather odd and wonderfully scary. King is an amazing writer who I've enjoyed and savoured throughout the span of his career.
The narrator was brilliant and each character was unique and incredibly well done.
Billy Summers will remain in my memory and my heart for a very long time.
