Story
Detective Clements knows that people disappear all the time—far too frequently. Most run away from things, some run toward and others are taken but find their way back. A sad few never return. These two women are from very different worlds. Their disappearances are unlikely to be connected. And yet, at a gut level, the detective believes they might be.

I felt like this was a pretty good book. i love mysteries and twists and turns and this was full of them. I won't say that I didn't see the ending coming. But i'm not sure that's fair as I read or listen to so many books. Overall, I thought the story was good, and it was very well performed.

It is difficult to find fault with this work. This acclaimed writing team has consistently delivered exceptional thrillers and mysteries, setting a high standard. This book does not disappoint; the narrative is compelling, the characters believable and well-developed. The suspense is maintained until the very end, a hallmark of a great thriller/mystery. This title is worthy of an Audible credit. The four-star rating reflects the occasional confusion caused by the narrators' portrayal of opposite-sex characters. While the narrators are skilled, the inherent challenge of convincingly voicing characters of the opposite gender occasionally impacts the listening experience. However, overall, this is a high-quality production.

Ted talks about his marriage that’s going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he’s sure is cheating on him. I found the book to be quite enjoyable. The narration was well-executed, and the story was skillfully crafted and brought to life. I was engaged from beginning to end. I appreciated the use of multiple viewpoints in the narration, as it added depth and complexity to the story. Additionally, I enjoyed the way the author wove together multiple storylines within the main narrative. While I thought I had anticipated the ending, I was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected turn of events. This serves as a valuable reminder that one should not make assumptions and remain open to surprises. I highly recommend this book and encourage others to give it a try.

I quite liked this book. The story was interesting and a unique twist on the classic "wealth gone wrong" trope. The character building was better than I would expect considering there were so many players--it was well done. It's always nice when it's difficult to tell which direction a story will go until the very end. Although the narrator was fairly successful, I think her editors did her a disservice. There are certain words that she struggles with while attempting an American accent. The way she says something, like, 'everything' is problematic in this context because a wealthy, educated American would not have the same diction. I don't know how else to say it, but
sometimes her accent is of a different class level than this family. I found it incredibly distracting at times. Overall, I like the book and I'm looking forward to more novels from this author.

I enjoyed this story. I think it was well written. I always like cop dramas and whodunit books. And, there's something about English narrators that makes my heart go pitter patter. I really enjoyed Daniel's character. It's refreshing that this protagonist isn't perfect, but his heart is in the right place.
Likewise, I think the.villain has a lot of humanity. I'm hoping to listen or read all of the novels in this series.

I fully enjoyed last party. What started out as a light-hearted "possible" murder mystery quickly developed depth. Multiple behind the scenes secondary stories proved to be equally full of intrigue. I wasn't sure how it would end up until the very end. I can really appreciate that as most mystery novels make the ending apparent from the beginning. I would like to read more from this author, and likewise, the narrator was fantastic.

I know this book is a bit dark in some ways, but I quite liked it. I think I almost found the murder part humorous. It was so over the top that it was kind of tongue and cheek funny. These people had to be murderers of other murderers, or you would not be able to fall into the kind of love you need with main characters of a romance story. Anyway, the narration was excellent. What I found nteresting about this book, is that it didn't fall off a cliff after the couple got together, The story was still quite engaging. I find that is lacking in so many romance novels. The next portion of the story is always so predictable, and you know the outcome. This one was a little different. The storyline was just better. So, I would definitely advise any romance lover who doesn't take everything so seriously and can distinguish between reality and fiction to read this book and/or to listen to It. This was one of my favorite recent listens. ❤️

I really enjoyed this listen. The story kept me interested until the very end. I must admit, I did not see that outcome. It's rare for a story to truly throw a twist at you that you didn't see coming. The characters were well-built and the narration was perfect. If this listen is the tone setter for 2024, it's going to be a great year!

Supernatural spine-tingler!
Reviewed: 01-07-24
I don't think I realized this was a supernatural thriller when I purchased it. I've always loved Stephen King and the like. This definitely feels very much in that lane. It feels like a true story with a strange undercurrent of unexplained phenomena. I love how it built-in to the strange and unusual. It didn't start off that way. It really just felt like a story about a couple living in a big kind of scary house. Then, strange things happen. You think it's impossible, but second-guess yourself. "Is someone crazy? Certainly somebody here's crazy, right?" Because you never really know when plausibility has a bit of disbelief and magic thrown in. I love stuff like that. These tales let you take time out of your busy life, and just enjoy the mysterious and unusual. I thought the narration was good and the story pretty well developed. I would definitely recommend this as a good listen. It goes to some dark places so make sure you're prepared for that. I enjoyed this alot.
