Story
A masterful, intensely suspenseful novel about a reader whose obsession with a reclusive writer goes far too far - a book about the power of storytelling, starring the same trio of unlikely and winning heroes King introduced in Mr. Mercedes. "Wake up, genius." So begins King's instantly riveting story about a vengeful reader. The genius is John Rothstein, an iconic author who created a famous character, Jimmy Gold, but who hasn't published a book for decades.

Writer Is Too Softhearted, But Good Plot
Reviewed: 12-31-23
I wish the writer was a bit harsher, at least as harsh as the last one, but it’s actually much much softer… I guess age does that to people.

Story
With Expecting Better, award-winning economist Emily Oster spotted a need in the pregnancy market for advice that gave women the information they needed to make the best decision for their own pregnancies. By digging into the data, Oster found that much of the conventional pregnancy wisdom was wrong. In Cribsheet, she now tackles an even great challenge: decision-making in the early years of parenting.

Very Informative, a bit too much personal touch for me
Reviewed: 09-23-21
Very informative, saves you lots of research, and is a good eye opener to perspectives that you might not have necessarily thought about. My only problem is it seems like the writer is biased in some cases and in few even defensive about what she did with her own children (maybe she didn’t want to feel bad). Also, too many suggestive theories not supported by data (why waste paper then?, or in this case kilobytes), and too many cases of armchair psychology. This might not be avoidable unless you expect a cold and dry scientific research paper.

Story
Science fiction allows us to go places we can only dream of seeing - other worlds, distant stars, entirely different galaxies. While not every story is concerned with the hard science behind space travel and other futuristic ventures, fiction can give us amazing insight into what we could be capable of and what we dream of doing. In these 10 lectures, Professor Erin Macdonald interweaves real science and the achievements of the imagination to reveal the truth that underlies our favorite stories and sheds light on what the future may hold.

Story
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

EYE-OPENING
Reviewed: 06-19-19
“eye-opening“ was the first thing that came to my mind the moment this book ended.
Living in the middle east, being exposed to war news and stories on monthly or sometimes daily basis, and being the grandson of Palestinian refugees (both ways up the family tree) I thought I understood war and what it meant, and how awful it could be. Turns out I was wrong!
I really appreciate and salute the unbiased people who spoke the truth about WW2 in this audiobook and I hope younger generations would learn from it.

Cheap story, a kid can do better
Reviewed: 06-08-19
The story is very cheap. Can’t wrap my head around the fact that a group of actors/narrators wasted their time on it.
Very shallow, and a bit annoying.

Story
Are you hungry to help others through leadership but don't feel like you have the authority? One of the greatest myths of leadership is that you must be in charge in order to lead. Great leaders don't buy it. Great leaders - whether they have the official authority or not - learn how to be an influential presence wherever they are. In How to Lead When You're Not in Charge, author and pastor Clay Scroggins explains the nature of leadership and what's needed to be a great leader - even when you answer to someone else.
