Story
Over the past few years, Brianna Wiest has gained renown for her deeply moving, philosophical writing. This new compilation of her published work features pieces on why you should pursue purpose over passion, embrace negative thinking, see the wisdom in daily routine, and become aware of the cognitive biases that are creating the way you see your life. Some of these pieces have never been seen; others have been read by millions of people around the world. Regardless, each will leave you thinking: This idea changed my life.

Too repetitive
Reviewed: 08-04-24
Things like "what you don't like about other people, you actually don't like about yourself" are repeated EIGHT times across various chapters. This makes the book painful to get through.

Story
In 2001 Mo Gawdat realized that despite his incredible success, he was desperately unhappy. A lifelong learner, he attacked the problem as an engineer would: examining all the provable facts and scrupulously applying logic. Eventually, his countless hours of research and science proved successful, and he discovered the equation for permanent happiness. Thirteen years later, Mo's algorithm would be put to the ultimate test. After the sudden death of his son, Ali, Mo and his family turned to his equation—and it saved them from despair.

Is having 'somebody to love' the most important thing in your life? Do you constantly believe that with 'the right man' you would no longer feel depressed or lonely? Are you bored with 'nice guys' who are open, honest, and dependable? If being in love means being in pain, this book was written for you. Therapist Robin Norwood describes loving too much as a pattern of thoughts and behavior, which certain women develop as a response to problems from childhood.

Very helpful. I read it twice.

The book includes stories of many real people. I saw so many similarities between their mistakes and mine, that it was shocking. It encouraged me to stop chasing people who don't want to be with me. I also learned that love shouldn't be measured by how much pain you are willing to endure. It's hard to change lifelong thinking patterns, but this book can be an eye-opening start & therapy can also help.

I actually remember stuff I learn from this course. I feel the satisfaction of being able to speak. Although I might not be able to speak it all. I know a lot of phrases. That makes me feel good.
