A good story but the series isn’t worth the investment
Reviewed: 03-10-24
I like anita & the other characters & the story lines in this book, but it progresses to completely garbage. It breaks my heart that they had to ruin this great potential with glorifying and continuous rape culture & sexual abuse.

Rape & BDSM is what this series has turn to.
Reviewed: 03-10-24
Each book gets deeper into the accepting & glorifying rape, this one blatantly brings in the bdsm & sexual abuse, and portrays it dripping with supernatural power. I’m disgusted that i wasted my money on these books.

Story
There are a lot of monsters in Anita Blake's life. And some of them are human. One such individual is the man she calls Edward, a bounty hunter who specializes in the preternatural. He calls her to help him hunt down the greatest evil she has ever encountered - something that kills and maims and vanishes into the night. Something Anita will have to face alone.

Sound effects & rape theme should be removed.
Reviewed: 03-08-24
The story was great. Seeing a whole new avenue of characters & another side of Anita & Edward. But, the sound effects that came on at the gory fight scenes were excessive. I already have a good imagination I don’t need that to make me throw up. Also, the consistent rape theme is not pivotal to the story- maybe someone is just a rapist & is working to normalize such a horrific act.

Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Sincere, exciting, heartwarming, heart-stopping!! I couldn’t stop listening to the story. I don’t follow tabloids or celebrity news, to me those are worthless. This book is respectful to the whole family while also showing their human side.

Story
In November 1972, the Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis ran aground during a violent storm in Alaska, puncturing its hull, with a temporary patch applied to stop the flooding. The following day, enroute back to Honolulu, another, more vicious, storm struck; Jarvis now struggled with over 13 feet of water in their engine room and no power. The nearest ship that volunteered to assist was scheduled to arrive 30 minutes after the Jarvis officers estimated the ship would be destroyed on the rocky coastline. This is the true story of the heroic efforts by the crew that saved the ship.

Can't get past the narration
Reviewed: 12-20-21
I'm trying hard to get into this book. I have a lot of personal history in the Coast Guard, on CG Ships and in Alaska. I really want to enjoy, or at least finish, this story. I can't - the narration is horrendous and was giving me serious headaches. I HOPE there is an announcement or something if this book is re-recorded.

Narraration killed it for me
Reviewed: 05-01-20
I truly tried to get into it, but the calm smooth voice did SO MUCH better at putting me to sleep than performing the story. It was almost impossible to figure out what character was speaking, and there is no difference between the sound of a calm scene and an excited scene.

Owen and Slomo will have to outwit an Irish goddess of wisdom, some nasty spriggans, and streak across the Kew Gardens to find the culprit. They're going to see the world after all - just not the way they thought.

Too Vague
Reviewed: 08-15-19
I have read other books by John Maxwell, and I was expecting more. This is so vague in what he is talking about - asking questions - it seems like it is all common sense. I'm sorry Mr. Maxwell, I for me this one doesn't enhance or advance things past common sense and a moderate amount of study (to find proper questions for a situation).
