Story
Annie Collins is back! Becoming an overnight celebrity at age 16 should have been a lot more fun. Not helping matters: she’s the only kid in school with her own pet spaceship. She would love it if things found some kind of normal, but as long as she has control of the most lethal - and only - interstellar vehicle in existence, that isn’t going to happen. Worse, things appear to be going in the other direction.

Story
Gideon is that close to striking it rich - again. The flaw that always seems to trip him up is that he is a con man, a swindler, and a thief. The entire galaxy seems to have it in for the poor crook. Of course, his task of staying alive isn't made any easier since he has to bring along his ex-girlfriend, who has become a zombie. Then again, maybe dragging along Rigel, the universe's dullest man from the galaxy's most dangerous planets is even worse? You choose. Will Gideon ever catch a break?

What made the experience of listening to The Desert Spear the most enjoyable?
Although this volume doesn't exactly pick up where the previous one left off, the author does connect the dots in a most enjoyable and fulfilling way. The extra history and background provided here enhances the story greatly.
Which character – as performed by Pete Bradbury – was your favorite?
The narrator does a fantastic job portraying all the characters and making them distinguishable and real in their own right. An excellent narration that makes the book that much more enjoyable to listen to.
Any additional comments?
I look forward expectantly to the next volume!

Very difficult listen

What could Will Carver have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Tell the story in a more understandable way so that it could be followed.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Narration was clear and entertaining.
Any additional comments?
At multiple points while listening to this book I thought someone had put chapters together in the wrong order. The book/plot was very convoluted and confusing. I continued to listen to all of it to try to understand what they had done wrong. At the end I was convinced it wasn't their problem, it was the author's. Interesting idea but very poorly constructed!
