Story
Nature is dying. Perhaps before the world is turned into an industrious machine, nature itself can play one final trump card to save itself. Summoned to a new world, a mushroom-loving mycologist needs to grow up and grow stronger in order to accomplish the goal that brought them to this new place: to save nature from the system that the sentient races have created. Stats, levels, classes, and skills are all well and good, but when you're a Child of Poverty in the slums of City Nineteen, there's little you can do to change the world. Not unless you're willing to think outside the box!

Enjoyable story FAR too short
Reviewed: 07-06-24
Enjoyable. I wish other writers would take notes on writing lit rpg from books like these. Thankfully, you won't hear the characters sheet a zillion times or endless repetition of ability descriptions like HWFWM. This was a pleasant story of a unnerving adult trapped in a child's body. would recommend. Kind of expensive for how short.

Story
Simon can only watch, helpless, as his family is killed and his friends captured by enemy Travelers—men and women who can summon mystical powers from otherworldly Territories. To top it off, another young man from Simon's village discovers that he's a savior prophesied to destroy evil and save the realm. Prophecy has nothing to say about Simon. He has no special powers, no magical weapons, and no guarantee that he'll survive. But he sets off anyway, alone, to gain the power he needs to oppose the Travelers and topple their ruthless Overlord.

I liked the concept of Travelers. I liked the magic and main character. The deep flaws in all the characters and misunderstandings. Quite fun.
The one thing I didn't like was how the main character is dumped on all the time and when others are in the same situation it's easy for them to get power with the explanation "sorry MC we don't like poor people and the talentless, we helped these other characters no problem when we offer you only scorn"
I would recommend.

Could not finish this tale of a serial child killer.
Reviewed: 03-31-24
Suffered through the first half in hopes that this book would become more fantastical but really feels like all theages and mystics are just people with knowledge and that scares the people wrapped up in keeping up social appearance and doing things they don't want to keep up their social standing. The main character goes from regretful killer who bragged when he was young, and now a fat family annihilator who personally kills babies and distributes slaves to keep his contacts happy in the name of religion.
It can be hard to tell who is talking based on the narrator.

Interesting take but I can remember the stats
Reviewed: 11-14-23
I liked the story overall and I am glad for the description from both the human and wolf point of views. Narrator did great.
the only gripe I have with 85% of litrpg is the repetition of stats so frequently and even among assignment of said stats. Either the narrator needs to craft what would be skim-able in text to some better in speech or I hope the next book changes the representation of stats.

Story
Infinite Worlds is the most popular VRMMORPG on the market. Its maps are so vast, developer Hard Rock Data utilizes a network of highly advanced artificial intelligences to control it. But it’s not without problems. That’s why Game Masters like Jeff Driscoll have jobs. The downside? He’s not allowed to play the game. Something about conflicts of interest and favoritism. His very boring and tedious job is to help players deal with the occasional bug that slips through the cracks and ensure they enjoy their time playing enough to give a five-star rating.

It was a little repetitious with the notifications but not as bad as others. The story is good and the MC is well balanced.
My only real complaint is sometimes the audio level drops or raises.

painful to get through. At one point there was an hour and fifteen minute pointless argument. Every conversation felt like a recap for the character who just came on scene. Very fusterating.
Narrator did a good job but the shouting needs level balace. Eardrum destroyer if you wear earbuds.

I liked the first book but since then there is so much repetion and agonizing over choices. Litterally agonizing, complete with character internal pain. It is exhausting after the 4th hour long conversation on the same subject with a MC that the world happens to. MC is under constant emotional torture.
