Story
He’s my best friend’s older brother. He was also my teenage crush, and completely out of reach. But we had our secrets—moments that nobody knew about. I’d tucked them away in a safe place, and that’s where I’d planned to keep them. He’d moved to the city, and I’d moved on. But now he was back in Honey Mountain for a few weeks and he’d found endless reasons to spend time with me. What started out as rekindling our friendship turned into a different kind of…stroking the fire. No pun intended. It was temporary. Just another secret that we’d keep between us.

Solid “happily ever after” storyline.

I’m a big fan of the “happily ever after,” and this series gives me plenty of that along with good audio performances and really good storylines.

I always love the relationships in the In Death books. The mystery/criminal aspects of each book are intriguing, but I think the relationships keep me anxiously awaiting the next book.

Story
Lt. Eve Dallas is just home from a long overdue vacation when she responds to a call of an unattended death. The victim is Martin Greenleaf, retired Internal Affairs Captain. At first glance, the scene appears to be suicide, but the closer Eve examines the body, the more suspicious she becomes. An unlocked open window, a loving wife and family, a too-perfect suicide note—Eve's gut says it's a homicide. After all, Greenleaf put a lot of dirty cops away during his forty-seven years in Internal Affairs. It could very well be payback—and she will not rest until the case is closed.

Story
With Christmas around the corner, Miss Caroline Anderson hoped to persuade a London tavern owner to carry the Home's Widow's Brew - only to discover the dastard was more interested in her ankles than her ale! To her further annoyance, her stagecoach back to Little Puddledon is waylaid by louts and a snow-covered ditch. Amid a nasty storm, Caro seeks shelter at a nearby estate - only to be greeted by Viscount Oakland, a.k.a. Nick, her brother's childhood friend - and her schoolgirl crush. Now, he's the half-dressed host of what is clearly a holiday bacchanal.

Story
Like all the Bedwyn men, Aidan has a reputation for cool arrogance. But this proud nobleman also possesses a loyal, passionate heart - and it is this fierce loyalty that has brought Colonel Lord Aidan to Ringwood Manor to honor a dying soldier's request. Having promised to comfort and protect the man's sister, Aidan never expected to find a headstrong, fiercely independent woman who wants no part of his protection, nor did he expect the feelings this beguiling creature would ignite in his guarded heart.

Wonderful introduction to the Bedwyns
Reviewed: 04-26-22
On my third read of this title, I've raised my rating from a 4 to a 5. I s o enjoyed revisiting the Bedwyn clan and remembering what it was like to meet them for the first time. While my opinion of Wulfric changes over the course of the series, I met in this book the Duke who as head of the family is arrogant, determined and way way "high in the instep." In this book I only saw hints of the brother who loved his siblings tremendously and always has their best interests at heart (of course this is in his opinion). The book's hero is Aiden, the military man whose sense of honor we see very early in the book, and whose heart becomes evident as we read on. Our heroine, Eve, has a heart that jumps out at us immediately. She is loving, independent, and very protective of the downtrodden. The challenges that she faces unite Eve and Aiden, at first to be a temporary union, but circumstances intervene and Eve and Aiden find themselves perhaps on another road. Anyway, I loved the book. Eve and Aiden's story was heartfelt and the characters were written so well that I felt I too was on the journey of self discovery that they each took in order to be able to recognize and find love.
