Jill and Derick knew a normal life wasn’t possible for them. As a star on the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, Jill grew up in front of viewers who were fascinated by her family’s way of life. She was the responsible, second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle’s nineteen kids; always with a baby on her hip and happy to wear the modest ankle-length dresses with throat-high necklines.

Deeply Honest
Revisado: 03-21-25
Jill is my hero! I am a 66 year old woman who still fights with the demons of “The Bill Gothard Way”. Both my parents are long gone from this world, but the mark from my childhood until today, still haunts me with each decision I’ve made. Jill’s story leaves me with a freedom I’ve not known even through years of therapy. Thank you Jill and Derrik for sharing your life. I will forever be grateful.

Letting go….
Revisado: 03-18-25
The tragically sad thing is that he was so happy when this book was written and then some greedy people murdering him. His story feels true and sincere. His life shows determination to live. It was wonderful hearing his voice and that was bittersweet. A powerful yet, difficult like Mr. Perry had. He will be missed for as long, long time. I highly recommend this book.

In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

Woman of Courage
Revisado: 07-30-24
This book was not only powerful, it was truthful. Written by a woman of integrity, Liz Cheney gave up her career and good name for America in the end. This book took me behind the scenes of the January 6th insurrection attempt and opened my eyes wide to the fragility of our democracy. Those who are bent on having an authoritarian ruler won’t listen to this book and that saddens me more than anything.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

This wasn’t just a book, it was an EXPERIENCE!
Revisado: 02-06-22
From start to finish the story had me hooked. It was funny, serious, intelligently written (I’ve got to go into that in a moment!), interesting, wonderful…so many adjectives I could use, but I’ll stop with these. Andy Weir made every word count. The scientific and technical language was perfect in that even though there were things I didn’t know, it was obvious he did and then gracefully led me into a new world of knowledge. The fictional aspects where so well thought out it was simply perfection! Speaking of absolute perfection, I’ve never heard such enjoyable narration as I heard with Ray Porter. The brilliance of his narration made me feel as if I came to know the characters personally. It wasn’t as if he was reading a book, but that the characters were telling the story in real time. I’m sorry, I just don’t have the words to explain how talented Mr. Porter is. I’m not a writer, but I wish I were at this moment so that I could share what a complete, all around EXPERIENCE this was for me! If you are reading this review, don’t hesitate for a moment to have your own experience with “Project Hail Mary”!

Simply Wonderful
Revisado: 12-09-21
I say “Simply” for a reason in this title. I’ve been reading tarot for quite some time and have come across dozens of books and workshops to not only gain knowledge myself, but to be able to recommend to others something they may be looking for. Out of all these courses and books, I have never before found one that was Simple. Simply easy to understand, Simply easy to connect with, Simply interesting and Simply damn funny throughout the book! It isn’t long and drawn out with technical jargon which I can’t stand. It’s a very good book for beginners I would think and an excellent book for those of us who like getting a fresh take on tarot readings. For me, reading can get stale and soggy like crackers left uncovered here in the muggy South. I’ve just enjoyed 5 hours of fun and found practical tidbits of information I have not heard before or thought of myself. As a fairly new reader, I took a course on tarot thinking it would help me become more confident in my readings. By the time I quite the course, it took me months to undo the ball-busting, mind messing shenanigans that course I paid a bundle for caused me. Now, I’m an old dog who loves to learn new thoughts on tarot. This book is truly the first out of all my years that I had a blast reading! Thank you Melissa! I invite you to my Kitchen Table anytime!!

What a shame
Revisado: 05-01-21
I read this in hardcover and loved it. I decided to revisit it to get me out of the constant self-help and biographies I had been becoming a bit overwhelmed with. I have never been so disappointed with a book that I can recall. I can easily say that the performance of, in my opinion, a really good book made this an extremely bad book. All the “he said” and “she said” ‘s throughout were annoying to say the least. I don’t think I’ll listen to a favorite book on Audible again. It ruined it for me. The performance ruined it for me. I’ll take note of the performers name and steer clear from now on. I was just taking a break, but now I can’t wait to hear Barack Obama’s melodious voice again!

When Anna wakes up from a coma after a car crash, she discovers life has gone on without her. Her husband has been unfaithful - with her best friend - and she’s been long since replaced at work. While her old life is a distant memory, her new life feels like an empty shell. Then she meets the stranger who saved her life during the crash, and he changes everything. Leif Larsen - tattooist, joker, and player - has his own scars thanks to the crash that put Anna in a coma. Helping her move on from her failed marriage, and create a new life, sounds like a perfect distraction.

Pleasure
Revisado: 05-01-21
I really didn’t know what to expect when I chose this title, but what I found was an easy pleasure. It is so unlike what I normally read or listen to, I found it refreshing and rewarding. I loved the blunt language used with no skating with ridiculous descriptive words. The performance was done well and I truly appreciated the storyline. I have truly found another genre to incorporate into the biographies and other books in my repertoire. Thank you for this breeze of fresh air.
