I don't remember when I picked this up...possibly as part of a sale. I'm really glad I grabbed it. Despite being shorter than the novels I usually go for, the story has a lot of beautiful detail and still makes room for some fun. I didn't make the connection that the author himself narrated this...but he's really good.

I can honestly see myself listening to this story again in the future. Might even end up in my rotation of books that I listen to at least once a year.

It really left me rooting for the unit, and I found myself having intense feelings towards the end as things with the story were heating up. I don't want to give anything away...so I'd better stop myself here. Just grab yourself a copy of this and read it yourself!

Frostbite Audiobook By Richelle Mead cover art

This one needs a new narrator....badly!

Would you listen to Frostbite again? Why?

No. I can't stand the voice of the woman they had read this. I enjoyed the different voices and got used to the pronunciations of the narrator for the first in the series....and to suddenly end up with such a whiny narration where everyone sounds like a sick child begging for attention...I can't put myself through that again.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was really interesting and good. I enjoyed the twists and turns.

What didn’t you like about Khristine Hvam’s performance?

Her voice is annoying and her inability to use different voices other than bland or whiny was just too annoying. I also didn't like that she pronounced things differently than I was used to from the first book...or the fact that pronunciations changed in the middle of the book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Actually yes...I kept screaming at the narrator about how things should have been pronounced.

Any additional comments?

While I understand a recap on the first book at the beginning....I started to get really annoyed with the author as we got farther into the book and she kept re-explaining things that were discovered in the first book.

Vampire Academy Audiobook By Richelle Mead cover art

I may be too old for this series...but I love it!

Would you consider the audio edition of Vampire Academy to be better than the print version?

For me....heck yes. I love "reading" but rarely have the time or attention span to simply sit down and read a book. I depend on audiobooks since they are the only way I can actually get through a book.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that it was different and more detailed than the movie, which I saw before I knew about the books. I really enjoyed the added detail that the movie couldn't get into.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The pronunciations of some words were a bit jarring and confusing for me at first, since I saw the movie first, but I was eventually able to get used to it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were many parts of the book that made me laugh...sadness didn't enter into things until later books in the series.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the book and most of the narration. The story was quite enjoyable and it was an easy and interesting listen. I would highly recommend this series to any of my friends who are interested in this genre of entertainment.

Any additional comments?

This has long been my favorite book series. I was terrified when I read the reviews about the terrible narration...but once you get used to his pronunciation of the names...it's not so bad. His voice isn't sharp or shrill like some that have hurt my ears at times in the past (book 1 especially) and I liked the way he changed how he read for spirits and prophecy.
