Nailed it!
Reviewed: 01-30-21
As a former long-term employee who worked directly for Pat McGovern from the late 1970s to early 1990s, Glenn indeed captured the PJM Way. The IDG Corporate Values and the very lean corporate office structure made IDG stand apart from other companies and was why the company was so successful.

Wow - changed how I think of my start up business
Reviewed: 09-09-17
I've known of Jason since 1998 and followed his magazine then the various LAUNCH programming but it wasn't until this book and listening to it (Audible makes it easy while commuting!) that I understood the "inside baseball" of the VC world. It's already changed how I am talking to potential investors and even business partners, and made me rethink what kind of outside financial support we really need. I'm glad Jason wrote this...wish more things were spelled out as clearly. Definitely worth the read (or rather, listen.)

Interesting points made

David makes some great points - many of which should be quite obvious but until they are restated they don't take on that "duh, we should have done that" moment. Sales and marketing need to work together and DMS makes so many points on ways we can accomplish that for stronger sales results.

Story
At the height of his fame Thomas Alva Edison was hailed as “the Napoleon of invention” and blazed in the public imagination as a virtual demigod. Newspapers proclaimed his genius in glowing personal profiles and quipped that “the doctor has been called” because the great man “has not invented anything since breakfast.” But Edison's greatest invention may have been his own celebrity.

Where does The Wizard of Menlo Park: How Thomas Alva Edison Invented the Modern World rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The title was a bit misleading for a techie as most of us know of the California Menlo Park, but this story is an excellent one about one of history's greatest inventors. Entertaining and engaging, always keeping us wondering what new invention Edison was dreaming up next.
