Story
Like all Purebred with their menial jobs, Ken ekes out a living sweeping the floors of Kyoto Peacekeeping Central. His kind serves as a benchmark for XHumans to measure how far they've progressed and a reminder of what Homo sapiens once was. His life changes when 800-year-old Ryu crosses over from the World of Rivers and Lakes, looking for a lost temple; and Aya, a beautiful hacker whose Sensory Interface perceives the EtherCloud as Feudal Japan, learns that XHumans aren't as perfect as they thought.

Extremely bland/boring story. when this was rec'd to me I jumped on it: cultivation meets cyberpunk/aliens, yes please. BUT no, no, I cannot recommend this series to anyone. In addition to the boring story, the weirdly inserted sex scenes going to horny town were awful.

Unlikely hero Victor discovers the realm of Fanwath is even deadlier beneath the surface in the rollicking sequel to action-adventure fantasy Pit Fighter. Suddenly transported to the land of Fanwath, Victor had a hard time adapting to a reality controlled by an omniscient “System” that rewarded strength, skill, and savagery with increased “Energy,” which was necessary if one wished to continue breathing.

Horrible Ending. Boring compared to book1.
Reviewed: 08-15-23
The ending to this book was so incongruous with the nature of the main character that this book isn't even worth listening too.
This series is definitely not 4.5 stars. The audible ratings are so crazy.

It's fine and fun, but NOT 4.5 stars fun
Reviewed: 04-26-23
If DCC is 5 stars then this is not 4.5.
The stat allocation and delays in allocating were absolutely painful. The MC is 16ish, and barely likeable in the first half of the book (and it isn't because of one of his stats).
I still enjoyed this, but would not recommend this above DotF, Primal Hunter, Randidly, portal to Nova Roma, or Ripple System (and frankly many others). Hence it is at best 3 stars.

Why? This book is stealing ideas from DotF, annoying bird names and birds, and this is a total filler book.
Again, I enjoy the series, but this book was long and unmemorable.
Travis Baldree rocks.

Reddit Ranked B litrpg tier. Disagree!
Reviewed: 12-20-22
1. This book claims min max from the get go, but takes half the book to even allocate stats and then diversifies lol
2. The MC is a goof. In battle he attempts to save enemies, he isn't very capable, and he isn't very likeable.
3. This reader just is not on par with other greats: Pavi P, Travis B, etc
4. Despite having all the right elements this was not addictive like DCC, HwfwM, DotF, Primal Hunter.
5. I would not really rank this 1 star, but it definitely needs a ranking knockback from the close to 5 stars it currently has.
6. The class this guy becomes near the end of the book is very cool, but does not fit him as a character at all. Total cleric vibes.
I will not be continuing this series.

YA novel without adversity. Not recommended.
Reviewed: 12-12-22
This is technically a litrpg, but the main character is childish, faces no adversity to "level up" or throughout the book, and there are only 1.5 fight scenes.
I listened to this book because someone rated it S tier litrpg on Reddit. IMO it is F tier within the genre. If you are new to the genre stick with HwfwM, Defiance of the Fall, Dungeon Crawler Carl or an Apollo's Thorne book.
The narrator is better than 1 star, but is nowhere near some of the male counterparts: ex TGR, Pavi P, Jeff Hayes etc. I know that comes across as sexist, but there are high quality readers with WIDE variation in voice and character. I would have given the narrator 2 stars, but I do not want this book to sit at nearly 5 stars on audible because it is simply not a 5 star book!

Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon. Survival horror. One of the most brutal, most terrifying full-immersion games ever made. A place where fantasy characters such as elves and dwarves clash with technology, where giant monsters roam the hills, entrusted with protecting the gates of heaven from the demons who would tear it all down. A game where one plays the last of the battlefield surgeons: a healer tasked with keeping the behemoths alive at all costs. But on this server, they don't care about the game. They've come because of the game's most unique feature: full pain.

1. This book is survival horror. You will not find it to be fun like Dungeon Crawler Carl or good in an rpglit way like Cradle or He Who or Defiance of the Fall. There is leveling and items and stats, but these are lowkey.
2. The reader reads through both psychological and physical torture scenes like it is no big deal. Which actually added to my discomfort.
3. I made it half way, but the amount of surgery rpg usage was minimal at best. That is what I was looking forward to the most.
4. I dont usually like Asian fantasy tropes: Jade City, Poppy War, Sword of Kaigen. This isnt that! despite Kaiju being in the title you will not have to hear about someone struggling with honor for 4 hours. you will hear a morality struggle frequently.

6+ hours, give me that time back!
Reviewed: 05-01-22
1. YA level cringey romance with middle aged couple.
2. The narrator can't save this one.
3. Prologue had me! Demon hunting Beserker Paladins who lose control when their god dies--YES! Ya, that was the end of that.
4. Istvhan was the only remotely interesting character introduced.
I know this author is beloved, but if you enjoy books like First Law, Cradle, Way of Kings, Asofai, even Light Bringer; just avoid this fluffy waste of time.
If you like Small Lonely Planet, Goblin Emporer, Senlin...this book may be up your alley.
