1st book was good and then it went down hill
Revisado: 01-21-25
I liked the first book just fine. it wasn't great but was good. AAn interesting angle on a dystopian book.
The second book was all recycled ideas with no more character development. Way to many clichés and no substance. I finished it but didn't enjoy it.
Third book was like the second but just another turn of the recycled ideas and clichés. I had bought the pack of all 3 books but didn't finish this one. It was just bad.

Historia
NurtureShock is a groundbreaking collaboration between award-winning science journalists Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman. They argue that when it comes to children, we've mistaken good intentions for good ideas. With impeccable storytelling and razor-sharp analysis, they demonstrate that many of modern society's strategies for nurturing children are in fact backfiring - because key twists in the science have been overlooked.

This book has a lot of great information but presents it in a way that keeps you engaged. The information is sufficiently clear, without being overly forceful in the authors interpretation of the data. The author flies at a appropriate level of detail to keep it informative and interesting, but not belabor any points or get lost in superfluous detail. I really enjoy this type of book and NurtureShock did not disappoint. Some great opportunities to reflect and question my own approach to parenting and life in general.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Just not much there
Revisado: 05-01-19
I tried really hard to get into this book and just couldn't find anything to hold my interest. There are a lot of characters but they are all pretty shallow, which makes them a little tough to keep track of. The plot was fine, at a basic level, but the story took never dove into any topic enough to get interesting. There were details, but they we so tangential that it just sounded like a disgruntled comment section rant, supported by Google search catch phrases.
It was surprisingly bad.

it is a good book on the basics of negotiating. Definitely worth a listen if you are looking for a book on the topic.
It doesn't get to in depth, just keeps on the point of logic based negotiation.

Historia
David Novak learned long ago that you can't lead a great organization of any size without getting your people aligned, enthusiastic, and focused relentlessly on the mission. But how do you do that? There are countless leadership books, but how many will actually help a Taco Bell shift manager, a Fortune 500 CEO, a new entrepreneur, or anyone in between? Over his 15 years at Yum! Brands, Novak has developed a trademarked program he calls Taking People with You.

Had its Ups and Downs
- De Tommy D'Angelo en 10-01-16
Great content that is very well organized.
Revisado: 08-18-15
Where does The History of the United States, 2nd Edition rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of my favorites. I don't think you'll find a better US history book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The History of the United States, 2nd Edition?
The organization of information was great. It followed topics through time which made events easier to follow. Rather than history books that follow a strict timeline, this one followed the timeline of specific events or related events which made them easy to understand. It did make it shift forward and back a little to keep the sections logical, but it was still very clear and easy to follow.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Professor Allen was probably the best. He was the first one and had the longest section.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wanted to, but didn't have 43 consecutive hours to spare.
Any additional comments?
All of the speakers have a slow speech cadence, so I played it a 1.25X speed which worked well.
