Story
Still living in the same white farmhouse where she grew up, Curry watched those closest to her leave - her parents by tragic death, her husband to war, and her best friend, Tom, who walked away because he couldn't deal with being left alive. Then one day, without warning, Tom returns. Curry appears as down to earth as she ever was, but her survival has come at a cost, and now it's up to Tom to help Curry reopen her heart to life's joy.

Story
In 1820, a young farm boy in search of truth has a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. Three years later, an angel guides him to an ancient record buried in a hill near his home. With God’s help, he translates the record and organizes the Savior’s church in the latter days. Soon others join him, accepting the invitation to become Saints through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. But opposition and violence follow those who defy old traditions to embrace restored truths.

Story
Can you describe how the flavor of halibut differs from red snapper? How Brie differs from cheddar? For most of us, unfortunately, the answer is: badly. Flavor remains a vague, undeveloped concept we don't know enough about to describe - or to appreciate - fully. In Flavor, Bob Holmes shows us just how much we're missing. He tackles questions like why cake tastes sweetest on white plates, how wine experts' eyes fool their noses, and how language affects flavor.

This book was more technical than what I wanted, or fully understood. If you are a technical foodie, you may like it better.

I loved it. I have always admired Mrs. Child. I am a culinary arts teacher and turn to teach my students to love cooking as much as Julia did.

Story
This memoir is laced with wonderful stories about the French character, particularly in the world of food, and the way of life that Julia Child embraced so wholeheartedly. Above all, she reveals the kind of spirit and determination, the sheer love of cooking, and the drive to share that with her fellow Americans that made her the extraordinary success she became.
