I first read this book on kindle, the day it was published back in autumn. I wanted to give it some time before listening to it, and while experience was slightly different (just different, not better or worse), and I knew how the story goes, it still wrecked me, filled me with joy, made me smile and cry.
Abby Craden does an absolutely fabulous job with this book!
And though I am a huge fan of the Senator’s wife, The Unfinished line is my favorite from Jen Lyon.

I loved this book! The story, the MCs - badass women - the narration, oh the narration! Anais did a fabulous work giving voice to these wonderful women, who will stay close to my heart for a while.
What a book to start the year with…I know it will be in my top 3 for 2025.

This was not a romance, this was a pure, innocent love story, at an age where you feel that the world is yours, that you can do anything, and sometimes, that you found the love of your life.
So far it’s my favorite YA/coming of age book and I’m excited to listen more of this author.
Narration was perfection!

The love story is pretty and honestly I stayed with book because of Paige. A beautiful human being, kind, patient - sometimes too patient with Seren, no BS and unnecessary drama. And how much more adorable can a baby cows lover be?! ❤️
Seren…ugh…I struggled a little bit with her petulance and i want/i don’t want a relationship. To make peace with it - cause I wanted to drop it at some point - I thought that the character was intentionally written like that, to emphasize the changes in pregnancy are not just the body, but the emotions, wishes, fears can be overwhelming. If that was the intent, I’m fine with it.
Abby Craden…nothing to add! Perfection!

Just finished the book and can’t stop crying, this was a wonderful love story, beautifully written and narrated. I was planning on seeing the movie but now I’m not sure, I don’t want to spoil the experience.

Heartbroken and whole, again and again!

I was heartbroken and whole again and again throughout the Shadows series and oh my God, I loved it! The setting, the plot, the characters, the beautiful love, everything transported me in those times, I felt part of the story. This last book of the 4 was what it should have been: the raw emotion of going back to oneself, to make peace with a tumultuous past, with the reality of a war that took a lot from them, but one thing: their love. It’s hard to take sides, but I think I am a fan of Jenny, of her journey from an innocent, impulsive and oh so sweet girl to an accomplished, wise, patient and deep woman, that went through an emotional roller coaster, but never ever has she stopped loving Kat. And Kat, she’s been so close to my heart and even though sometimes her actions broke my heart, I knew she will conquer her demons in the end.
I’d like to read a story, if not a book about Smithy and Vivienne’s story and a compilation of Jenny’s and Kat’s letters to each other while they were apart.
I love the playlist J.E Leak created and that you can find on her website, it complements the books and make the experience even better.
It wouldn’t be fair not to say that for me, Abby Craden’s narration was half of the experience! There is no better voice that could have taken me back then!

Loved it, my fav in the series, very different than most romance novels, heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Would recommend heartily, one of the books I’ll remember for a long time

I loved the whole series, but this was indeed my favorite. While the first was Catherine, the second was Alex, finally this one was so much about them as a couple, about the strength of their relationship that they worked hard to build, about their connection beyond words. And Catherine’s walls going down, one by one, discovering an even stronger woman, but with a softness and care and joy that made me fall in love with the character. And Alex…oh Alex, her becoming, her commitment, finally the self confidence she was searching for for years.
Last but not least, the magnificent Abby Craden. This book could have not been narrated by anyone else. Is that simple!

This was a sweet little story that could have been much more had the author spent more time to develop the characters. Maybe because it was written quite a few years ago and her writing certainly developed since the , I don’t know, but it was superficial. In the end, it felt like 15-20 years went by and they were exactly the same people: an uptight workaholic and a women-lover musician. Just saying “I’m a changed woman” is not enough.
I did not enjoy the narration at all, I think it killed the story. For a book by this author, not to be able to create any chemistry - including the steamy parts - but actually have the opposite effect, this is huge :(
I read quite a few books by Harper Bliss and this is by far my least favorite.
