Melody is not like most people. She cannot walk or talk, but she has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She is smarter than most of the adults who try to diagnose her and smarter than her classmates in her integrated classroom - the very same classmates who dismiss her as mentally challenged because she cannot tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by cerebral palsy.

Story
In 1954, 63-year-old Maine farmer Annie Wilkins embarked on an impossible journey. She had no money and no family, she had just lost her farm, and her doctor had given her only two years to live. But Annie wanted to see the Pacific Ocean before she died. She ignored her doctor’s advice to move into the county charity home. Instead, she bought a cast-off brown gelding named Tarzan, donned men’s dungarees, and headed south in mid-November, hoping to beat the snow.

Story
Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

It broke my heart for so many injustices. People can be so evil. I am so grateful for people who stand up for what is right. I take refuge in knowing that Jesus WILL be coming back and every soul WILL stand before Our Maker and really be accounted for our lives. I pray for all to open their hearts to Our Heavenly Father. I also grateful that my parents moved us out of the Mid southwest back in ‘64. God bless those that help the meek and voiceless.

THIS book should be mandatory reading in America’s public schools. Wake up America. Men like Chad & Aziz are the real heroes of today, NOT the “reality stars” (ie;kardashians, housewives of o.c) or the sports player that just made mvp. The REAL heroes are people like the ones in this book that took action to save people from evil. God bless & keep them forever.
