Story
Meet Randi Burnett—she’s brilliant, she’s beautiful, and she works for the bride. Missing groom? Intoxicated in-laws? Crying ring-bearer? You name it, she wrangles it. Too bad her personal life isn’t thriving like her side gig as a bridesmaid for hire. Recently dumped, Randi throws herself into her biggest challenge yet when she’s hired as a maid of honor and pretend best friend for an ice queen bride. There’s just one problem—the best man is infuriating, overprotective, and anti-marriage.

trying too hard
Reviewed: 04-01-25
this wasn't really a love story, the couple that falls in love, fall in love the second they meet eachother. there is no build up. everything goes perfectly. the one little hiccup is just that - a hiccup - that is resolved in about 10 mins.
also, i recognize that this story was trying to be inclusive by having bi couples, lesbian couples, and straight couples. but it just felt like it was trying too hard. and the main character is a proud curvy woman and that's great. but can for once I read a rom-com and we don't fixate on the woman's body? like why did so much attention have to be brought to it? almost nothing was said about the man's body. can we just stop making woman's body such a focal point of discussions??
i felt if this book was trying to achieve body positivity, it didn't quite hit the mark.
and the story line was meh. and there were a few lines that were so cheesy, they make me cringe in embarrassment.
and the one cool part about the plot, her being a bridesmaid for hire, she gave up in the end! 🙄

NOT a crime thriller
Reviewed: 07-16-24
I was looking forward to a short crime thriller, but this was not it. nothing of interest happens in the first half of the story and I almost stopped listening. I finished it in thr end and it was disappointing. if your looking for a 60 minute story with little substance, then give this a go. but if you're looking for a crime thriller and a short story to entertain you, this is NOT it

voice actors were great. plot was unique. it was short and sweet. would have been cool of this was a longer story and more details could have been fleshed out and more character development could have taken place.

loved the slow burn. and the narrator did well, however, because the story is mostly set in the perspective of a woman, I would have preferred a female narrator.
