Beautiful message, enjoyable, but plot was sort of silly.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I listened to it very quickly. Narration was excellent. There is a very beautiful message in this story. But I couldn't help feeling, especially as we get to the climax, that the overall plot was kind of silly. I still recommend it.

Story
It all begins with a hot-air-balloon trip and three bottles of champagne. Allan and Julius are ready for some spectacular views, but they’re not expecting to land in the sea and be rescued by a North Korean ship, and they could never have imagined the captain of the ship would be harboring a suitcase full of contraband uranium on a nuclear-weapons mission for Kim Jong-un. Yikes! Soon Allan and Julius are at the center of a complex diplomatic crisis involving world figures from the Swedish foreign minister to Angela Merkel and President Trump.

This story really struck a cord with me and compelled me to keep listening. I wrapped it up in just a couple days. Narration is excellent. The tale is a bizarre grown up take on Alice in Wonderland. It was enjoyable throughout but does contain some violent scenes that may be difficult for some. A great listen!

Story
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
