Story
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality
- By Martin J. Fogarty on 07-25-18
poor audio quality
Reviewed: 01-23-24
this sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone in a room with no sound dampening. it was bad enough audio quality that it was distracting from the contents of the book, especially because i don't have the best hearing anyway. i think i might have liked it more if it were more carefully recorded.

Story
Seventeen is nothing like Codi Teller imagined. She’s never crashed a party, never stayed out too late. She’s never even been kissed. And it’s not just because she’s gay. It’s because she and her two best friends, Maritza and JaKory, spend more time in her basement watching Netflix than engaging with the outside world. So when Maritza and JaKory suggest crashing a party, Codi is highly skeptical. Those parties aren’t for kids like them. They’re for cool kids. Straight kids. But then, Codi stumbles upon one of those cool kids, Ricky, kissing another boy.

Story
When Ashana Persaud meets Poppy Morgan on a school trip, she’s sure it’s too good to be true. Coffee dates turn to museum trips until, soon, the two girls can see a future together—one that’s seemingly snatched from them when a hit-and-run takes Ash’s life on New Year’s Eve. As the last person to die before midnight, Ash is bestowed the title of reaper. Only those close to death can perceive a reaper, so when Ash runs into Poppy one lonely night—and Poppy sees her—they can't be sure if it's the second chance they've wished for, or a tragedy lying in wait.

i believed the characters and i felt them falling in love. adored that part of the book. the plot of "after" felt a little patchy. "what about this huge problem?" "barely an inconvenience actually"

I went in wanting a fluffy romance and I got a fluffy romance. i do think there could have been more substance to the attraction between characters but it didn't bother me that much.
