Story
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Story
King Midas made me the woman I am today. Notorious. Unattainable. His. The thing about being confined is that you believe it's to keep the bad out...Until you realize it's about keeping you in. I'm now in a strange kingdom surrounded by liars, with no allies of my own, but I won't sit idly by and let myself wither. No, something's bloomed from the pit of my repression. Something dark. Something angry.

This book really dragged for me. To the point I asked my book group if I should give it up.
I stopped reading another book and came back. Glad I did. But not sure if I can handle another in this series

That was nothing more than painful! From the narration to the story to the dragging on for nine painful books don’t even bother reading 8.5 it wasn’t worth it. I have never been so thankful to have a series over in my entire life. Who is saying that this was good?

It wouldn’t let me go to sleep
Reviewed: 12-10-24
This book was hard to get into. It took me three days to finish. so dock a half point for that. I was wondering for a while where are these dragons that they said were in the book. I see no dragons. So I figured the really detailed killing that happened in the beginning and the ending (cause it isn't my cup of tea) dock half a point for that.
Well it was a trick. The dragons want to see if you are worthy to enter their world. When they show up stuff is about to get real.
To be fair I had a really bad migraine when trying to read the book. Give back half a point. not the authors fault I wanted to just curl up. Yes I tried to use this book to pretend it I didn't have a near migraine. Then it took over and no book could be good enough to get through that.
Then day three happened.
I fell into the book so hard. I honestly think I went to work the next day with maybe 2 hours of sleep.
This book is not for everyone as it has a lot of trigger points and deals with the ugly part of life. With that said WOW that book!
Raeve was never the type of female that you wanted to slap because she was clingy or would do things that no sane person would do. Ok she was an assassin so I am not sure a sane person would do that but who am I to judge lol.
If you ever want someone on your side it would be her. She is a woman all her own and does not make excuses for that.
Kaan well he lost the love of his life. I can imagine the only thing that would be worse is losing his dragon. Then to see Raeve in that bar type thing where she is singing. He was never going to stop till he got to really know if Raeve was/is her.
Secondary characters.
There are going to be some great stories with them coming up soon! I feel it!
But Really I had to fall into this book before all the series is out! Good grief it is going to be a long year.
with the back and forth I am up to 4.5 stars. so do I recommend the book round up, do not, round down. So we have a 5 star.
But tempted to take away half a point just cause I have to wait a full year for book two. The pain

I wanted to give up. Not a story I would have picked but I did. I was telling myself I would hate myself for punishing myself for reading all of it.
But I enjoyed the ending. Was it worth the pain getting to the end?
No but glad it is finished.

The season 5 and dropping of the f-bomb is horrible. I get that is a okay word for others but it is not okay for everyone.
There are so many other podcasts out there but this podcast has turned super negative and left me with a horrible feeling.
Ever five minutes on the season about the church with the “venue” and “Lance” is my throwing in the towel and will need to move onto a different podcast
