excellent short story

very cool I had to have options like this. I love the long books, but it's nice to have some short stories like this to pepper in between when I'm not ready to commit to a longer book. this one had a great story, who doesn't love the wolves.

Story
The Ghosts of the Tanith First-and-Only have been away from the front line for too long. Listless and hungry for action, they are offered a mission that perfectly suits their talents. The objective: the mysterious Salvation's Reach, a remote and impenetrable stronghold concealing secrets that could change the course of the Sabbat Worlds campaign.

What the feth happened to Toby Longworth?
Reviewed: 06-08-23
The year is 2023. I've followed Gaunts Ghost from Tanith to Gereon, so enthralled in the series that at 40 my wife had a veto my second tattoo idea of the Tanith text "First and Only" across my chest. thank the emperor she did because my heart broke when I downloaded Salvation's Reach. Sorry James McPherson, I don't know you, you're probably an alright guy, but what the gak were you thinking. I tried getting on board, but just couldn't. I felt like I was 10 years old listening to a priest give his sermon at Sunday morning Mass when knowing my friends are out playing war in the canyon. The voices, tone, inflection, cadence, etc are just horrible for this series. after deep diving and what could have led to this, I learned that this may have actually been the first book recorded since this is about when audiobooks became a thing. And Toby didn't come on till later. I also realized that there are three books missing from the audio series at this time: Only in Death, The Iron Star, and Blood Pact. I'm pausing until these come out. Hopefully real soon with Toby still at the helm. And I'm praying they re narrate salvation's reach with Toby as well...FOR TANITH!!

Story
For a thousand years, the Sabbat Worlds have been lost to the Imperium, claimed by the dread powers of Chaos. Now, a mighty crusade seeks to return the sector to Imperial rule. And at the forefront of that crusade are Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt and the Tanith First and Only - better known as Gaunt’s Ghosts. Trapped in the grinding trench warfare of Fortis Binary, the Ghosts find themselves drawn into a conspiracy to assassinate the crusade’s leader, Warmaster Macaroth.
