I absolutely love Mimi Jean Pamfiloff's books. She writes them with a wicked wit and great story line. Add to that a stellar reading by Sean Posvistak and you've got a must listen. Mimi knows how to pull you in, filling you with curiosity and laughter. You want to dig deeper chapter after chapter. Sean is the perfect counterpart and reads the books exactly as though he's in my head. He's more than just someone going through paragraphs, he embodies them with just the right sarcastic tone or frustrated growl. I cannot wait for book 3. I have to know what's next. My only tip is make sure you get book 1 first and enjoy the full story. Pick them up, you will not be disappointed.

***Caution: spoilers*** I am usually a fan of Milly Taiden. I think her stories are sweet and sexy, fun reads that serve up exactly what I'm looking for when escaping reality. I just found that this one tried to do too much - like WAY too much. There were enough plot lines here for at least three series. The story is of a woman who is a brilliant but standoffish scientist who discovers a rare virus that causes ESP (plot 1). In comes her fated shifter mate who works secretly for the military (plot 2). They discover that demons want the virus (plot 3), are helped by a witch doctor whose grandson happens to be a very convenient character (plot 4). All while fighting her attraction because of past heart ache (plot 5). I really had trouble making it through the last 1/3 of the book, not just because the story took too many wild tangent rides, but also because I found the heroine annoying in her complete inability to be reasonable. Narration was great, but this story needed editing. I still love Milly Taiden, just not Elemental Mating.

I originally read this book but decided to pick up the audio version. Harry Berkeley does a great job with the story. The Kelly clan stories are all full of action and romance. Maya Banks is a great writer with a good sense of pacing. She builds enough intrigue you keep digging deeper and deeper into the story waiting for what happens next. She doesn't overdo it, it's just the right amount of action to balance out the romance and keep it a page turner. Highly recommended.

I continue to be impressed with Kristen Painter's Nocturne Falls Series and BJ Harrison's narration. Every story is sweet and romantic. It is set in a fantastic world where paranormal are out in the open but still pulling the wool over the humans' eyes. These stories are robust and fully envisioned giving you a great tale along with all the butterflies a good romance should give.

Willa and Nick's story is my favorite so far. There was an added level of friction based on the type of paranormal they each are which made their romance very endearing. One of the things I am growing to love about Kristen Painter is that she does not write stupid characters. No one makes bad decisions just for the sake of advancing the plot. Everyone acts like rational characters - even when they're obviously the bad guy, or in the case of the hero/heroine who is hesitant in love.

Great read. Highly suggested.

First, the narration is excellent in this book. Lauren Sweet is a real talent and I will be seeking her out in the future. As far as the story, it was good but I wanted more from it. It's really my problem with most novellas, though. This is only 3 hours long and really needed at least a few more hours to build all of the parts of the story. The heroine falls immediately into bed with not one but two shifters when all she really wanted was a date. She expresses extreme hesitancy but doesn't display it. Little things like that could have been drawn out to increase the romance. It also hit one of my pet peeves with paranormal romance novels - sure I'll be your mate and commit to you for the rest of my life but I don't know yet if I love you. What??? With that said, though, it was still a sweet story. It was just super condensed.

I continue to be impressed by Dannika Dark. This is a second excellent book in this series. There is so much more than romance here but the romance is fantastic, too. You feel like you get a real look into these two characters, their relationship, and how it all evolved. April is a very damaged woman and though some of her decisions can be considered careless, pride makes you do weird things. Reno is as stubborn as they come but his stubbornness is just what April's pride needs. Add in all of the secondary characters being strong roles as well, and you've got a winner. Well worth the time!

Evangeline Anderson is a great writer. Her Kindred series is one of my all time favorites. This is the first book in the Born to Darkness series and there are parts of it with real promise for a great series. However, I have to agree with several of the other reviewers in saying that the heroine, Addison, is incredibly annoying. I am all for strong female leads, but why did she have to be so unrealistically unreasonable? How arrogant do you have to be to believe that you, a human, know more about vampires than a 400 year old vampire that continues to prove he has your best interest in mind? And Corbin, who has the potential to be incredibly sexy, never stood up to her. It was like he was a whipped puppy walking on eggshells trying to keep her happy. Maybe it frustrated me more because he is reminiscent of Sylvan from the Kindred series who was my favorite. But Sylvan's heroine matched him better. I am not giving up hope for the series, I just will cross my fingers for better leads in the next.

Kristen Painter continues her sweet journey into Nocturne Falls. Ivy and Hank are such a sweet couple and it was fun getting a look into their lives. Ms. Painter is a talent at writing a sweet love story that's not overly complicated and delivers what it promises. Probably one of my favorite things about her writing style is that the characters don't make outright terrible decisions just to further the plot; they act like sane, grown adults. There is enough intrigue to keep you listening, she leaves all the saucy stuff to the imagination, and I love her for both. Pick this up if you want to kill a few hours wishing you found your way to a Halloween town filled with sexy, smart men. Sign me up, now.

I can't believe I waited so long to pick this up. To be honest, it just kind of sounded like any other shifter book so I wasn't in a big hurry. I kind of want to kick myself now. I can't say I'm overly excited about every single detail in the book but even if I don't agree with all of the decisions I think it is a great story. The main characters are some of the best written I've read in a while. Both strong and capable. The side characters are well rounded and interesting. The story is robust and you actually get what you paid for - a full book rather than some cliffs notes version of a story. I liked it so much I immediately picked up book 2. If the description intrigued you even a little, go ahead and pick it up now.

This story was unique and exciting. I loved that the characters were complex and flawed but still manage to pull it together to be with each other. There were a few times in this book where I actually couldn't get to the next part quick enough because I had to know what would happen next. I highly recommend it. It's a great listen.
