Story
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

Slow start, Great payoff
Reviewed: 04-02-25
I decided to read it after seeing all the hype online and at the beginning I didn't have much faith. But I guess I can say is completely worth the hype. The book really worse you to pay attention and get in the story or you'll miss something important. And Vis is such a charismatic protagonist, he really makes you root for him.

I was really waiting for this one and I think Collins really delivered. Great story and performance. And that's why Haymitch drinks.

The first book became my favorite book since it came out and second one was just as good. I wasn't expecting a 5 but come on! It felt so out of place with the rest of the series. Very disappointing. I didn't have problems with the audio like some of the reviewers.

Story
Authors June Hayward and Athena Liu were supposed to be twin rising stars: same year at Yale, same debut year in publishing. But Athena’s a cross-genre literary darling, and June didn’t even get a paperback release. Nobody wants stories about basic white girls, June thinks. So when June witnesses Athena’s death in a freak accident, she acts on impulse: she steals Athena’s just-finished masterpiece, an experimental novel about the unsung contributions of Chinese laborers to the British and French war efforts during World War I.

Story
Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter. And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan.
