Story
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Poor excuse for a political diatribe.
Reviewed: 10-25-21
The narrator was good. The story was engaging. Some of the characters were massively annoying, missing out on obvious cues or whining incessantly, but for the most part relatable. It was clearly written by a “woke” millennial-gen z type. This was irritating but overlookable in the first book, but in the second book the author launches into a full-on polemic on American politics. At that point, I called foul, decided that wasn’t what I had paid to hear and returned the entire series. Oh, and I didn’t even vote for Trump…that’s just how ridiculously annoying it was. I was looking for fantasy…the author couldn’t pull their head out of their own reality long enough to provide that obviously…perhaps, they should change genres in the future.

Story
Things were starting to look up for Magelord Minalan the Spellmonger: The magic mountain in his domain not only made him a wealthy man and the most powerful mage in history, it also produced a lode of magical gemstones with unique properties - properties the Alka Alon, the masters of magic on Callidore, are fascinated by. This is an incredible series. I’m surprised I had never heard of it before this year. Fantastic character building throughout, as well as, world building sufficient to keep your interest through the nitty gritty details. I hope Audible makes the remaining books of the series available soon!

Story
Some of the parchment pages were the color of cream, thick and substantial, made to last many, many lifetimes. Other pages were thin and desiccated, positively yellow from age, and crackled alarmingly as Van Richten turned them over. There were no ornate illuminations, no fussy borders, only lines of plain text in hard black ink. The flowing handwriting was a bit difficult to follow at first; the writer's style of calligraphy had not been in common use for three hundred years.

Why? Just why?
Reviewed: 06-29-17
What was the point of this story. Why bother to write it. It's as if the author tried to sum up a 10 book series in 2 books. The story feels disjointed and incomplete because it is. The characters have tremendous potential for development, but it is sadly never realized. So I would love to ask the author, why? Just why write it like this?

This is an enjoyable trilogy. I got into it more than I thought I would. The author definitely allows you to build an emotional connection to the characters. It was a decent performance by the narrator. Not the best I've heard, but solid enough to not detract in any way from the story.

Story
My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Awesome. Incredible. Fantastic. I have found a new favorite author and fictional character. They could have gotten a better performer to read, but it was still a good performance of an incredible story. My only frustration is having to wait so long for the third book to come out. If I had known the series wasn't finished yet, I never would have purchased it.
