Story
Kaen is a typical teenage orphan in Ebonmount—toiling in a quarry for his keep as he yearns for adventure far beyond the confines of his laborious existence. But everything changes when he stumbles upon a bronze egg. From its shell emerges Pammon, a dragon, marking Kaen as the first human in generations to bond with such a creature and entwining his destiny with that of the elite adventurers’ guild. Suddenly thrust into a life he’s only dreamed of, Kaen embraces his bond with Pammon and what it truly means to be chosen by fate.

I cried 10 time
Reviewed: 02-15-25
This book was an unexpected surprise for me. I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks across multiple fantasy, lit RPG and sci-fi genres and this is the first time I have cried multiple times in one book. I will grant you I am a little prone to becoming weepy.
To me this book touched me so much because of the father and son bonds that are described so eloquently. I believe every father and son should read this book and think about how they would feel under the circumstances.

Story
On a little-known planet, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves. The ritual works too well, granting Varic not only the magic but also the memories from six lives. Including their gruesome deaths. Now, Varic has power greater than any wizard in galactic history, but he knows that won’t be enough. The enemies he faced in those alternate lives were apocalyptic in scale. Terrors of technology and magic. Nothing that he, or anyone, can defeat.

Interesting

I found this to be a very interesting book. The magic is really unique and it’s entertaining. I am concerned that the main characters might be overpowered. The book is pretty entertaining and has good humor so that makes up for it.

Story
After his town is put to the sword and the children are taken to replace the fallen, an old man is out for revenge. He’s ready to fail at the most difficult challenge in the world: cultivation. Too corrupted to even take the first steps, the sly old elder simply agreed with those who told him that it was impossible. Then he quietly ignored them, rubbed his hands together, and started anyway.

Not your typical progression story
Reviewed: 12-14-23
This was a great story with a lot of twist and turns. The main character is lovable, and I was really invested in their survival.
The part I found a very different is that it was very intellectual. At times it felt slow, but I never wanted to stop listening. If you’re just looking for a lit RPG type story, this isn’t it.
Overall, I loved it and I will be continuing on this epic journey.

Story
A teenage mage of humble birth and slightly above-average skill, Zorian is attending his third year of education at Cyoria's magical academy. A driven and quiet young man, he is consumed by a desire to ensure his own future and free himself of the influence of his family, resenting the Kazinskis for favoring his brothers over him. Consequently, Zorian has no time for pointless distractions, much less other people's problems.

A bit slow
Reviewed: 10-02-23
Not too bad of a book overall but it was very slow. Following the main character, drawing conclusions for reasons that were not obvious was frustrating. I I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to the second book, maybe I’ll come back to it.

Story
A world on the precipice of the apocalypse. A secret forged in the flames of war. A chance to start over. For John Sutton, only one of those three things matters. Retired from a decade of brutal war, he wants nothing more than a quiet pastoral life while he does his best to stem the steady increase of his Doom Points before they hit 100, signaling the start of the end. He’s been given a small farm on the outskirts of the empire as thanks for his service, but no matter how far he travels, it's impossible to escape the war's devastating effects on the world.

I found this book very interesting. The action level is not what I would expect for a LitRPG, but I was not bored. I find some books build too much tension and stress and I have enough of that in my life. This book was a great mix of building characters and action, and I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Ilea likes punching things. And eating. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many career options for hungry brawlers. Instead, the plan is to quit her crappy fast-food job, go to college, and become a fully functioning member of society. Essentially—a fate worse than death.

Good story, bad writing

I am a huge fan of audiobooks, including authors, like Brandon Sanderson. I have listened to many hundreds of audiobooks, and I’ve never heard a narration this bad. I feel somewhat sorry for the reader as the dialogue was just as bad.

RPG Story
Reviewed: 01-06-23
Overall, I liked the story, but I felt like I was listening to an RPG game being played. Maybe that’s not a bad thing, but it wasn’t quite the same as other lit RPG stories I have listened to.
