Madeleine Albright – as author & narrator is great. You recognize the voice and you can be assured she knows her history and experiences as Secretary of State.
You get not only the meaning of Fascism, but a history of Fascist rulers this 20th & 21st century. When she reviewed the Fascist leaders in South America, along with the history of the CIA, I recall reading about them growing up.
The last few chapters deal with Fascist Leaders of today. It examines how we make ourselves more vulnerable to allowing our leaders to become Fascists
It's the old axiom – American philosopher, George Santayana , "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Click

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to anyone, who does not know about the Revolution. If they are late to politics, this book defines both why so many young people became enamored with Bernie Sanders.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The youth of our land have risen up and became excited about politics the way it should be. The youth saw they had a chance to change things in our country.

What three words best describe Bernie Sanders and Mark Ruffalo ’s performance?

Love Bernie Anyway

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All of us old hippies, thought the chance to change the world had slipped out of our hands. We thought all politics was corrupt, but in Bernie, we could tell he told the truth. And when the young people of our land (America) became excited by Bernie's message, Hope once again rose in our breasts.

And Sean Runnette voice draws you into the story

Riley of course –
you can see him in your minds eye and he is loyal and inclusive of even a cat in his pack

What does Sean Runnette bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

his voice draws you in, and you can imagine each character as his voice changes to reflect each one

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, but my day does not lend itself to be able to do that

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Sean Penn had a big buildup for the book on the late show. Other than Sean's acting talents in the reading of this book, it wasn't worth the time

What do you think your next listen will be?

Mark Tufo– Book of Riley 2

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?

Sean Penn did okay job

Where does The Elfstones of Shannara rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

top 10%

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

as usual, he is able to do male and female voices/characters without overdoing it

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

no

Any additional comments?

it is different from the Chronicles of Shannara that you now see on TV. That's why when I started watching on TV, I wanted to go back to the original books by Terry Brooks and see how he had intended the story to go.

yes, if you like fantasy novels. This is a good one. He make sure to describe the battles in terms of where the different armies attack each other and it all sounds plausible. The good guys lose sometimes.

Any additional comments?

I'm surprised that I missed learning about/reading Terry Brooks novels before.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, it is not like most zombie apocalypse, books, our protagonist always has snappy comebacks. Having a person like this in your group of survivors, helps to ease the stress with the sarcasm.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mike, the protagonist. His sarcasm hides his compulsion to do what is right. He doesn't want to be singled out, but is willing to lead or follow as is needed.

What about Sean Runnette’s performance did you like?

He does really well delivering the sarcasm without making it obvious

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

finding out that Tommy had switched to his sister's Eliza's side. But we see a glimmer of hope that Tommy has not deserted Mike and the others
