Story
After the ultimate betrayal, Emil must rise up as a leader to stop his brother before he becomes too powerful. Even if that means pushing away Ness and Wyatt as they compete for his heart so he can focus on the war. Brighton has a legion of followers at his command, but when he learns about an ancient scythe that can kill the unkillable, that’s all he will need to become unstoppable against Emil and other rising threats. Meanwhile, Maribelle aligns with her greatest enemy to resurrect her lost love, and Ness infiltrates political circles to stop Iron from ruling the country.

I think this was a really well done finale for the series. I really enjoyed the story and the voice acting. The significant differences between Emil and Brighton was always so well done.

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Excellent

Once again, I see I will have to point out that Rebecca Solier did a fantastic job, yet the critics of an otherwise useless set of ears and standards that they could never live up too seem to continue their incredible disrespect towards this woman. How about, if you don’t like the narrator, then use the lazy eyes you used to write ride comments and fucking read the text version and shut up. God.
Anyways, this one really kept me on my edge and engaged. Also I do love the quips of lingo from Taryn constantly referring to the adolescent. He is very much that type of elder. Some of the setups could guess would come, but still the build up and anticipations were so good. The last two hours of listening to this book had me on edge and needing to know more. Loved the ending, I figured it would be one or the other, but still loved. Also great use of a villainous headache with the reveals.
Can’t wait for the next in the series and if anyone has an issue with my comment about their comments. Honestly, same way you all don’t care to respect the narrator of this story, I shall extend you that same disrespect. You’re welcome.

Story
Athanasios “Athan” Bakirtzis has made it far in life relying on his charm and good looks, even securing an invitation to a mysterious penthouse soiree for New York City’s artsy elite. But when he sneaks off to the bathroom, he hears a slam, followed by a scream. Athan peers outside, only to be pushed back in by a boy his age. The boy gravely tells him not to open the door, then closes Athan in. Outside the door, the party descends into chaos

I am once again blown away by the story and the performance. This was amazing. Ryan has done it again! I highly recommend this to anyone that just likes a good fantasy with a good setup and ending. The voice actor was so good here too. The effortless voice changes, so smooth.

Definitely A Worthy Listen
Reviewed: 11-17-23
I have had this book in my library for a while. Finally got around to going through all the books I had accumulated to listen too. I was a bit irked at the story at first, mostly just because of the women being deemed lesser and the men tropic protagonist ways. However I am glad I stayed with it. The more I listened the more I realized just how quickly none of that was true. It turned out to be a very good first book into the series. I am looking forward to the sequels and am adding this to my physical book purchases as well.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Good Story. Good Performance

Unlike the bellow of crying book listeners here, I barely noticed anyone was sick. I also felt like any noises added a fine effect to the story or scene. I do believe if you are going to give critique of sorts it be considered constructive and not disrespectful.
The performance was good. The story is good. Not a big fantasy dragons type of person, but I didn’t dislike this story and I’m eager to enjoy the next book.
Please if you’re going to leave feedback and comments, make them helpful with suggestions. If you’re just going to be nasty, then do society a favor and stop talking. The lot of you couldn’t do any better, if at all capture a character essence in your speak.
