Should we have tried harder to make this work? What if you're the one who got away? These are the questions that keep us up at night. This week, Esther helps a couple who were together for eight years and broke up a year ago. They've recently reconnected and wonder if they should give it another try. If they do, can they avoid falling into their old dynamics and truly learn to listen to each other? For the month of January, Esther is offering 20% off to join her Office Hours on Apple Podcasts. I love listening to her podcast because she has exceptional takes and executions when it comes to navigating people's perspective, understanding, etc. It's refreshing to not only hear her help others, but to hear how the struggles of life connects us all from different walks of life. It gives me hope for my own healing, an understanding of life, and the courage to stay the course.

I love the Lord but I was NOT expecting this book to be all of this. Being blindsided by the religious aspect kind of tainted the book for me. I felt like the author hid it in this unassuming package and that's a little underhanded.
I can only imagine the taste it's put in other people's mouths by presenting as something it's not. I'm sorry if you're one of those people who, like me, didn't read the reviews 🙃
Honestly, Christian or not, if you decide to buy this book know that it leans on Christianity heavy starting in Chapter 2. She uses it to analogize relations in the world to relations in the Bible. It is heavy on scripture. Heavy lol. Sidenote: if you're suffering from church hurt, maybe don't read this just yet. The way she uses scriptures to make her point could be a bit triggering
Do with that what you will ❤️

Jesse Ward has stumbled through life drinking and indulging himself within the rooms of his high-class sex club, The Manor, numbing himself to the pain, grief, and guilt of his wrongs. Pleasure and alcohol are his medicine. Hedonism is all he knows. It’s how he copes. How he survives. Until Ava O’Shea strolls into his office and knocks him back with her breathtaking beauty, ambition, and drive. It only takes one look into her eyes, one touch of her skin, and one word murmured, before his heart is kick-started, offering him something he never thought possible.

This was everything. I absolutely loved it and I cannot wait for the next one....if there is a next one. Fingers crossed! ❤️

The desire is too powerful to argue against, but I’m not interested in what we had. This is an arrangement about pleasure and finding out who we are behind closed doors. They say that all men are created equal. Well, that’s a blatant lie! I know, because I met God's gift to women in Vegas; I pretended he was my husband to get rid of another man. He took our fake marriage seriously, and it became his personal goal to consummate. He spoke to me in French, and I lied to him in German. His laughter was addictive. But I thought what happens in Vegas would stay in Vegas. Until it didn't.

Story took a turn
Reviewed: 11-02-21
I remember reading this book in KU, but could never remember the plot. Now, I think I know why.
I had to stop halfway thru. The narration is great, sex is steamy, and it's a pretty good story. BUT it takes a turn.
I'm an avid AR reader, and there isn't much that turns me away from a book. I will read just about any theme. But the H does something that even I wouldn't forgive, not even in suspended reality.
*spoiler alert if you'd like to know the issue*
He tries to legally take her kid away. It was too big of a stretch in the plot for me to continue reading. Forget heartbreak, that's unforgivable. There is no way to clean that up and I be happy with the ending.
