Story
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Like all of Scott Card’s books, this one works wonderfully when read aloud. The production is uneven in terms of sound and mixing, but a little patience from the listener is well rewarded by the rush of feelings and thoughts that this work provokes. Download and enjoy.

Story
This is the most distinguished novel that has come out of South Africa in the 20th century, and it is one of the most important novels of the modern era. Cry, the Beloved Country is in some ways a sad book; it is an indictment of a social system that drives native races into resentment and crime; it is a story of Fate, as inevitable, as relentless, as anything of Thomas Hardy's. Beautifully wrought with high poetic compassion, Cry, the Beloved Country is more than just a story, it is a profound experience of the human spirit.

The most wonderful book

Never have I heard such a magical book read by such a magical narrator. Cry the beloved country is one of the best literary work so I have read in years. It is brilliant, incisive, humane. I was transfixed by the story. My wife and I traveled to south Africa in 2016, and I paid extra special attention to the fascinating ballet of interactions between different classes, tribes, and language groups. This novel made Africa come alive for me again. It made me want to return to the beloved country.

The genius of Dickens, the majesty of the spoken word
Reviewed: 01-30-18
All Charles dickens novels are great in their way. A tale of two cities is remarkable take on that cataclysm that engulfed France and the rest of Europe at the turn of the 19th century from the first poetic words of “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times quote, to the final hunting words, “it is a far better thing I do then I have ever done.” Dickens method, and all his books, is to rapidly change the focus from characters who are high and those who were little born, hard scrabble, desperate, and ugly. It works here as always. The two dominant characters in the novel or trails cotton, the foppish attorney who secretly loves a woman, and who will ultimately paid the ultimate price for his love. The second character is Dr. Manett,The sometime mad doctor with the incredible backstory. This book should be heard by everyone.
