Well there's a first time for everything I guess, because I was just deeply disappointed by a John Scalzi book. He is my favorite author by a huge margin. This book was not fun to read, did not keep me engaged, and I skipped through quite a bit of it because I was just so uninterested.

The story was a good mystery to solve with a satisfying ending. However, the narrator was hard for me. Had trouble understanding words at times and was difficult to follow transitions between the two story arcs. I had to listen at a much slower speed than I like to.

This book lived up to its title as I was hoping. I too have dreamed of being an airline pilot and wondered what it was truly like for them. I feel like this was a very honest and thorough account of a day in the life of a real pilot.

I've waited so long for another book from my favorite author narrated by my favorite narrator. This was well worth the wait. Funny and smart and really enjoyable.

Great story in the Event Horizon genre

Really loved the story. It's similar to Event Horizon, but definitely has its own original twists and turns. I was skeptical at first because I loved Event Horizon and it set a high standard, but this is its own chilling and exciting story. Definitely recommend to fans of Event Horizon.

If I had to make one critical observation, it would be narration. Good overall, but there were 2 things that were kinda annoying and distracting. When she tried to do some of the male voices it was hard to get through. I found myself hoping that dude would leave the scene so she'd stop trying to do his voice. The other was when she was trying to do hysteria or high-adrenaline parts. I would turn down the volume so it wasn't as frustrating.

Great story and definitely worth a listen!

Huge fan of the series, but this was by far my least favorite book. Characters are all much older and the story was incredibly depressing and hopeless ... dare I say even moreso than when Marco hurled the asteroids at Earth.

Absolutely loved the story. I'm not a scientist, but I'm guessing Andy as usual has thoroughly researched the topics and made it as accurate as possible. Could not put it down and neither could anyone else in my family.

Book 3 was fine. Book 4 was nothing more than redundant battle scenes that basically filled space and added nothing to the story.

Fun story, and easy to follow with engaging characters. However, the obnoxious eating in nearly every chapter was absolute torture. I had to skip through several scenes, which was unfortunate because my son was really enjoying the book until it took a horrible turn. I nearly gave up on the entire thing in Chapter 2. Theatrical performances are one thing, but disgusting slop chewing and sloshing is not the way to win over an audience. Whoever thought this was a good idea should be hanged from their thumbs in a public library and flogged with dead fish. If my reaction was the one you intended, then congrats. Mission accomplished, Jerk.
