Story
In this extraordinarily intimate portrait of her mother - and herself - Fanny Singer, daughter of food icon and activist Alice Waters, chronicles a unique world of food, wine, and travel; a world filled with colorful characters, mouth-watering traditions, and sumptuous feasts. Across dozens of vignettes with accompanying recipes, she shares the story of her own culinary coming of age and reveals a side of her legendary mother that has never been seen before.

Eloquent & Enjoyable Writing & Narration
Reviewed: 12-30-22
Having read a lot of “why” food books from the likes of Michael Pollan and Dan Barber, I was looking for an audiobook that discussed some actual “how” to cook. There aren’t many “cookbooks” in audio form that get rave reviews and wouldn’t be totally boring to listen to. I saw this was highly reviewed and took a listen.
I absolutely adore this writer. The way she describes food and flavor and scent makes me jealous that I don’t have the vocabulary to express the same mutual sentiments. The way she described her mom is hopefully how my son will describe me some day. How incredibly proud her mother must be.
Enjoyable listen from beginning to end. Highly recommend.

Story
From Steven Millhauser, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Martin Dressler and one of the most imaginative and essential voices of our time, comes a fable about a race of miniature people and the way of life they have come master within our own. By turns enchanting and provocative, The Little People explores the fascination and unease the little people create in us, examines our private desire to disappear into their world, and reveals what happens when our personal and romantic lives inevitably collide.

This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to become a truly amazing pot limit Omaha player. This is a very popular poker game that is similar in nature to Texas Hold 'Em but it is a bit different in some elements.

Do not get this book - It's jibberish.

I got this book when I was first learning PLO. It didn't make any sense to me. Not because it was a tough read - but because the author couldn't follow a single stream of thought. It sounds like it was written by a bot who just strung together random sentences about poker. There wasn't a single piece of helpful information. Save your money.
