Story
Gaia is dying. That, at least, is what Dr. Lionel Scott believes. A renowned expert in tropical and infectious diseases, Scott has witnessed the devastating impact of illness and turmoil at critical scale. Society as it exists is untenable, and the direct link to Earth’s death spiral; population levels are out of control and people have allowed disarray and disorder to run rampant. While most are concerned about deadly disease, Scott knows that it is truly humanity itself that will destroy Gaia.

The book is a lot more Lettie and a lot less Lucas, and of course, the obvious narration.

Good but not great
Reviewed: 07-14-21
This was a pretty good book but not the be all end all of fiction that some of the reviews would have you believe. The pace is a bit hurried at times. The villain is a bit of a hack and is kinda like Snidely Whiplash in his cartoonish badness. Overall it’s a fun book but har a YA feel to it.

Even before he could move, the full realisation of what confronted him blazed in the Pharaoh's mind. This was the foul and loathsome thing that Taita, with his clairvoyant powers, had smelt in the air. The light was strong enough for him to make out every detail of the enemy he had loved as a friend. The magic of the gods. The treachery of man. In his long life, Taita has gone from slave to warlock, and now his wisdom and abilities are known throughout the kingdom. But even his immense skills cannot protect those close to him from the evil that lurks at the heart of Egypt.
