Story
When two childhood best friends blow up their respective romantic relationships, they make a time-sensitive pact: serial-cheater Chuck cannot sleep with anyone as she attends a three-month-long recovery group for cheaters, while sex-deprived Sofia vows to hook up with as many people as possible before recommitting to monogamy and tying the knot with her long-time fiancé. Best Audible Audio Play to Date

The acting of these characters was so good! I was really pulled into their very different personalities and love the narrative set up and arch. Not enough stories get told about the tensions around friendship and this was so well done. And so funny and heartwarming. I want to see more from these characters and want to read more by these writers. also - I love that it's 4 hours long - enough to finish in a couple round-trip commutes but not too long to take over all your audio time for a couple of months. And it was so well produced! and what was that song???

Story
Charles Wang is mad at America. A brash, lovable immigrant businessman who built a cosmetics empire and made a fortune, he's just been ruined by the financial crisis. Now all Charles wants is to get his kids safely stowed away so that he can go to China and attempt to reclaim his family's ancestral lands - and his pride. Outrageously funny and full of charm, The Wangs vs. the World is an entirely fresh look at what it means to belong in America - and how going from glorious riches to (still name-brand) rags brings one family together in a way money never could.

This book was really easy to listen to while going about the day. I felt a lot of anxiety reliving the recession but it was a good frame for a road trip story.

Story
When fourteen-year-old Lamya H realizes she has a crush on her teacher—her female teacher—she covers up her attraction, an attraction she can’t yet name, by playing up her roles as overachiever and class clown. Born in South Asia, she moved to the Middle East at a young age and has spent years feeling out of place, like her own desires and dreams don’t matter, and it’s easier to hide in plain sight. To disappear. But one day in Quran class, she reads a passage about Maryam that changes everything: When Maryam learned that she was pregnant, she insisted no man had touched her.

Muslim memoirs can usually be campy but not this. The writer intertwines religiousity through stories of prophets and challenges the dogmatic thinking that she was raised with and sees in society. Her story takes a path which reminds me a lot of my own - going from isolation into finding a path rich of people similar to herself that challenge her to be better. Reader is great too.

I Give Up - Don't Waste Your Money!

I couldn't even make it through the first chapter - this reader sounds like when the kid in junior high was made to read outloud and it was always monotonous. no punctuation, no intonation. I'm super disappointed I wasted money in this - I will just go get the paper book copy and read it myself.

I was wondering what happened to my college friend and whether he got famous, and I guess I got my answer in this book. We should all have siblings write mid-life biopic novellas about their siblings life so that the rest of us can have a proper catchup without needing to make a phone call.
