Prison, Really?

This is the 2nd in the series and again and was enjoyable until we get mixed up with the law. First. The way they use the law in both books has been ridiculous. Again, a rudimentary understanding is all I ask. You don’t go directly to prison upon accusation of assault. There would be a bond hearing and they would have been able to secure it in all likelihood. They are BILLIONAIRES. Also, people signing a piece of paper that is later notarized to get people out of jail? Again, the conflict that is added should be a little believable, right?

Unbelievable, but ok if you can get past that.

The premise was solid. Marrying to get a trust/money is not really a new idea. Having an heir—ok I get that. The whole virus thing however—-NOT BELIEVABLE. I am not asking for you to be a scientific wiz. This is romance, but a basic level of knowledge would have been good. That part really kept me from giving it a 3 on the story.

Let me first say I love Joe. He could make reading the paper exciting. That being said, I was meh about the story. I never really felt engaged with either of the MCs enough to care about their outcomes. Will it prevent me from reading anything else he writes—no. I look forward to future stories and the development of his writing.

With the exception of getting Willy Wonka names incorrect, it was a cute story. I enjoyed listening to it.

Therapy anyone? Things I found odd in this book are as follows:

All knew she had trauma but none got her professional help.

Her Lala immediately pushed her to a male relationship knowing she hated men????

Reid knows she had some trauma and as a police officer he didn’t try to get her professional help???

So, I have a few problems with story/narration

1. That is NOT a Carolina accent. As I am from NC, I know. I have it 3 stars because Ms North did try.
2. A person from NC going to Duke is funny. Most of them are from up north. Also, Carolina would have been a better choice for journalism degree.
3. Ever evidently didn’t learn anything in school as asking questions instead of assuming is the norm.
