About this listen

A USA Today best-selling novel

Ever Montgomery suffered the ultimate betrayal by the one man who she should have been able to count on for anything. It has left her hurt, jaded, and incapable of forming relationships, but it also means that she can spot a liar a mile away. These traits are earning her a reputation as a reporter with a keen nose for a good story and a complete understanding of the extreme power of the written word.

Lincoln Caldwell is the hot goalie for the New York Rangers. At 24 and a rising star, he works hard and he plays even harder. He's gorgeous and carefree - the ultimate charmer. Ladies fall at his feet and the single life has never been lived the way Linc Caldwell does it.

When Ever publishes an article about Linc containing information that she received off the record, she finds herself on the receiving end of the athlete's fury. Rather than basking in the glory of exposing Linc as a shameless user of women, she finds herself at his mercy when he demands and receives retribution. Required by her editor to trail Linc for six weeks, Ever is forced to look at the real Linc Caldwell.

And she just might find that she has misjudged him.

**Note From Sawyer Bennett: This book is part of the Off Series but it can be heard as a standalone book. Nothing in the prior or subsequent books will diminish your understanding of this novel. This is a New Adult, Contemporary Romance.

fantastic

I have loved Charlotte North's narration for the last 3 books and look forward to her work for the next 4 in the series. She is clear, expressive, and brings the characters to life.

Admittedly, I wasn't a fan of Matthew Holland in books 1 and 2. I really can't put my finger on why, exactly, but I just wasn't a fan. However, that unknown something changed in book 3. Maybe his narration style has grown on me like a song you have to hear a few times before it becomes one of your favorites? Holland's style definitely personified Lincoln Caldwell's personality.

Story wise, Sawyer Bennett spun an emotional and sexy tale that had me crying, laughing, and fanning myself at times. Fantastic!

sweet romance

the story was great. I would rather read it myself though as the male voice is very odd. The voice does not sound manly or sexy.

Great Narrators

Good story of overcoming the effects of the past. Couldn't help falling for all the characters of these first three books.

Kindle / Audiobook

Enjoyed the kindle version, the narrators in the Audible need more practice. They both sounded a bit stale, especially when they did the opposite sex voices; aside from that, this is a sweet read and okay listen when you have chores to do but still want to keep up with the story.

I Loved The Southern Twang!

Great story series! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them all. This one about Linc and Ever speaks volumes about love and forgiveness. It takes realistically painful situations and shows how to move forward with love (and determination). Great story. ❤️

goal!

This one hit me straight in the feels. Best of the series so far. Ms. North & Mr. Holland aren't my favorite narrators, but they did a great job. Excellent pacing, no choppiness in the narration.

Writer gets 6 weeks of “punishment “

Lincoln Caldwell faces the backlash of a scathing article written by Ever Montgomery. He is painted as a womanizer, specifically bedding several women in one day at a team/family party at his home. This came on the heels of Linc asking Ever to dinner, which she declined. She over hears several women talking about their romp with him that supposedly happened after the dinner invite.
Ever has a lot of venom for the male species caused by two big events in her life. Much to her dislike, her editor makes her apology in the form of following Linc around for 6 weeks (per Linc’s suggestion), so she can see who Linc really is. Punishment or not, these two can lite a fire with their angst, dislike for each other, and other things …
Matthew Holland and Charlotte North do a great job of bringing these two characters to life.
