Story
Mort, like many teenagers, is gangly, unpromising, and struggling with a menial job - in his case, as Death's apprentice. He can barely handle his simple task of ushering souls out of Discworld, but he really screws up when he meets the beautiful Princess Keli, who is scheduled to be assassinated. Going against his boss's wishes, Mort kills Keli's assassin instead, which angers and interferes with Fate. But Mort's heroism seems to be for naught, since Discworld proceeds as though Keli had been killed.

The story was funny. If you like puns, you will be entertained. Laughed quite a few times. Cute, easy listen.

Story
Right before the wise old wizard Drum Billet died, he passed on his magical staff of power to the newborn eighth son of an eighth son. Unfortunately, Drum Billet never bothered to check the gender of the newborn baby, and it turns out to be a girl. Now his chauvinistic colleagues are forced to deal with a young girl who has all the qualifications to join their all-male profession. Terry Pratchett's third Discworld novel, Equal Rites, asks many provocative questions about magic, where it goes, where it comes from, and why.

Could have adequately ended about halfway through.

It was so difficult to hear the narration. If you are listening to books to ease your commute, you will barely be able to hear this book while driving. Even on max volume, I couldn't hear every word...too much whispering.

Story
Four families wake up one morning in their trailer on an ordinary campsite. However, during the night, something strange has happened. Everything outside the camping grounds has disappeared, and the world has been transformed into an endless expanse of grass. The sky is blue, but there is no sign of the sun; there are no trees, no flowers, no birds. And every radio plays nothing but the songs of '60s pop icon Peter Himmelstrand. As the holiday-makers try to come to terms with what has happened, they are forced to confront their deepest fears and secret desires.

Just not engaging at all
Reviewed: 11-22-19
Multiple narrators, which I almost never enjoy. The story was just long and repetitive and pretty dull. Seemed like the author wrote some passages just to be able to include a cool turn of phrase he had thought of, but not really to advance the plot. I couldn't make it to the end. Bummed, because on it's face, it sounded like a story I should really have enjoyed. I'm going to return it and get my credit back.

The story wasn't that good. It wanted to be The Shining Goes to the Beach, but just wasn't that engaging. The narrator wasn't very good; it was difficult to tell one character from another. I kept listening because I was hoping it would get better. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Ann Rule was working on the biggest story of her career, tracking the trail of victims left by a brutal serial killer. Little did this future best-selling author know that the savage slayer she was hunting was the young man she counted among her closest friends. Everyone's picture of a natural winner, Ted Bundy was a bright, charming, and handsome man with a promising future as an attorney. But on January 24, 1989 Bundy was executed for the murders of three young women - and had confessed to taking the lives of at least thirty-five more women from coast to coast.

I wasn't crazy about the narrator, but I guess her detached tone was meant to reflect that the author wasn't personalizing the account any more than necessary.

Story
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.
