For general purpose search, consumers increasingly turn to conversational AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude — as well as to more utilitarian AI search engines like Perplexity — instead of traditional Google and Bing search. This new AI search reality poses a "Code Red" for traditional search.
