  • The Last Word - Blackpool 2-1 Bolton Wanderers
    Mar 30 2025

WELCOME back to The Last Word... And another derby day disappointment.

We've been here before, folks. And though Bolton's performance on the day wasn't terrible, the outcome stings just as much.

What damage has the result done to the play-off chances, or morale heading into the Wigan game? Only time will tell.

But by way of an explanation, we hear from Steven Schumacher and George Johnston, plus offer our own analysis from Marc Iles, Henry Hewitt and Russell Pollitt.

  • Donkeys and pies: The Buff looks forward to Blackpool and Wigan
    Mar 28 2025

LET'S not beat about the bush, it isn't just about three points at Blackpool and Wigan.

Sure, two wins would count the same amount towards the play-off push as if they were achieved at Stevenage and Crawley, and Bolton would still have a fair way to go before we could call this season a success. BUT.

It has been far too long since we could celebrate a win at Bloomfield Road, and don't get us started on a decade of hurt against the Latics.

This week, Marc and Henry have come armed with back-up, and Russ Pollitt joins us for a proper look at how Wanderers could end the jinx.

Of course we do all the BWFC headlines from The Bolton News and read out your emails but this week, the results are all that matters.

  • County considerations, keeper conversations and the Bolton Phoenix-es
    Mar 21 2025

Welcome back to The Buff Podcast - and we've shaken things up this week with not one but TWO co-hosts guiding us through the headlines and gossip at Bolton Wanderers.

Marc Iles is back, as ever, but along with Henry Hewitt we are also joined by Russ Pollitt to review and discuss everything that is happening at the club.

We look at all the fallout from Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Stockport, what is has done to the play-off chances and whether Wanderers have the squad necessary to get back up into the top six soon.

We discuss Nathan Baxter's contract, and the fact he wants to remain with the Whites beyond this summer. Has Bolton's keeper battle been a good thing for him?

And we read out your emails including the best-ever North West derby, Bolton Wanderers franchise names and lots more.

  • The Last Word - Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Stockport County
    Mar 15 2025

Welcome back to The Last Word and a sour note on which to bow out for the international break.

There was something not quite up to scratch about Bolton's performance at home to Stockport County, so Marc Iles picks through the 90 minutes to find clues on what went wrong.

We get some takeaways from Bolton Wanderers fan Russ Pollitt plus interviews with Steven Schumacher and Nathan Baxter, which are well worth a listen.

  • The Buff presents: Hat's the way uh-huh, uh-huh...
    Mar 14 2025

Welcome back to The Buff Podcast, your weekly dose of Bolton Wanderers news, gossip and discussion.

Marc Iles and Henry Hewitt are back to sift through a busy week in which the Whites beat Burton, came unstuck in Bristol and appointed a brand new sporting director.

The lads discuss the arrival of Fergal Harkin and what he could bring to the club and look forward to a crunch game on Saturday lunchtime against Stockport County.

Among the other stories in the news, we look at Newcastle United's Alex Murphy's up-and-down week and what the managerial changes at Barnsley, Huddersfield and Wigan might mean for Bolton.

As ever, your emails are answered, including the 'other' managers discussed at Wanderers during the interview process and why the Bolton Trotters wouldn't take off as a franchise.

  • The Last Word - Bristol Rovers 3-2 Bolton Wanderers
    Mar 12 2025

Welcome back to The Last Word - and apologies that wi-fi issues in Bristol have delayed it until the following morning!

Wanderers' winning run came to an unwelcome halt at Bristol Rovers in a frantic game of missed chances and poor defending. But what effect will the result have on a side that had been going so well?

Marc Iles guides you through the game from a precarious position in his hotel reception, and he is helped by Henry Hewitt and Russ Pollitt, who both offer some analysis on the part of the game that Sky Sports decided to show.

We also hear from Steven Schumacher and Luke Southwood after a performance that wasn't bad... It just wasn't anywhere near as convincing as recent ones have been.
