Miles from Ordinary Podcast, hosted by Bex Milnes and Jess Learmonth. Bex is an Endurance Coach, specialising in all things triathlon. Bex has coached cross the breadth of the sport working with ITU, Paralympic and Commonwealth games medalists. Bex now coaches Pro Triathletes and AG athletes over the 70.3 and Ironman distances.


Jess is a professional triathlete having competed in the 2020 Olympic games, winning gold in the Mixed team relay. More recently she has moved to long course triathlon and can be frequently seen tearing up the rule book and impacting the race dynamic in T100 racing.


This podcast is aimed to engage with the sporting community, involving ‘weekly topics’ and ‘coaches corner’ where listeners can send in their stories, experiences and questions.

    On this weeks episode we begin by hearing Jess's racing reflections from her 7th place finish at T100 San Fran. We discuss the behind the scenes logistics of boarding a party boat at 4am, what its like racing at the front end of a T100 race and why a sprint finish was not ideal! We then discuss our topic of the week 'Travel disasters'. Bex shares how she nearly took out the Paralympic triathlon team ahead of the Tokyo 2020 games and Jess shares her nightmare 24hrs as a temporary single parent as visa issues became very real! We round the episode off by answering listener questions on coaches corner and share out tips on technique vs fitness in swimming, goggle choices and discuss how much time you should spend riding your TT bike.

    On todays episode we are joined by the amazing Cameron Main. We chat in-depth about Camerons decision to move from short course racing to long course racing. How as a self coached athlete he's adapted his training philosophy as he's matured through the sport. We touch on the importance of mindset and Cameron shares his views on the importance of self confidence when it comes to racing. We explore trauma and how that relates to 'finding an extra gear' and what Cameron's long term plans are in sport and there after.
