The title of our podcast is pretty straightforward. We are looking to hear God in Scripture. We believe proper hermeneutics is rare, that is, the ability to properly read the Bible is not commonly known or practiced. We believers are commanded to know and study the Scriptures. We should also study to properly understand what they say. These Scriptures are God’s words to us. God spoke to us. Now we need to read them right. Not only did God speak, He still speaks. We shouldn’t just read the Scripture to pull it apart and examine it, we should be listening to God, listening for His voice as we read the text. Our hermeneutic is, “the Text is the Master”. We submit to the text. We do not have the right to twist it around to make it say what we want it to say. Rather, we discover what God is saying to us through His Word. Then we submit to whatever He says. So, hear God in the Scriptures. That is what we are trying to do and we invite you to do this with us.© 2025 Austin and Joel Cristianismo Espiritualidad Ministerio y Evangelismo

    John 5:46
“For if you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote of me”

Jesus makes two important points in this short verse, using something the Jews cherished - the Old Testament. Jesus highlights the teachings of Moses, who spoke about Jesus as the coming Messiah, and uses this to question the Jewish leaders’ true belief in the scripture. Jesus is affirming how important the text is! God speaks to us through the text. It also causes us to wrestle with what we truly believe. Are we practicing what we believe?

  • 29: Speaking from the Mercy Seat Covered by the Cherubim (Exodus 25:22)
    Jun 9 2025

God’s mercy seat, the place of atonement, that is the place where God speaks to Moses. It is covered by the Cherubim. The Cherubim protect the holiness of God. And it is out of God’s holiness, from the atoning seat, the atonement, there God speaks to Moses. And there God speaks to us.

    Exodus 25:22

There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel.

  • 28: Do You Want to Get Well? (John 5:6)
    Jun 2 2025

Jesus seems to seek this man out, the invalid of 38 years, and asks him what seems to be a simple question for his condition, “do you want to get well?”. He answers in a roundabout way that doesn't answer Jesus's question. God wants things for us and we just need to hear Him and answer Him directly. We need to trust and obey, knowing that God has so much greater for us than we could ever imagine. What does that look like for you?

    John 5:6

6 “Do you want to get well?”
