Hearing God in Scripture

De: Austin and Joel
  • Resumen

  • The title of our podcast is pretty straightforward. We are looking to hear God in Scripture. We believe proper hermeneutics is rare, that is, the ability to properly read the Bible is not commonly known or practiced. We believers are commanded to know and study the Scriptures. We should also study to properly understand what they say. These Scriptures are God’s words to us. God spoke to us. Now we need to read them right. Not only did God speak, He still speaks. We shouldn’t just read the Scripture to pull it apart and examine it, we should be listening to God, listening for His voice as we read the text. Our hermeneutic is, “the Text is the Master”. We submit to the text. We do not have the right to twist it around to make it say what we want it to say. Rather, we discover what God is saying to us through His Word. Then we submit to whatever He says. So, hear God in the Scriptures. That is what we are trying to do and we invite you to do this with us.

  • 23: A Spring of Water Welling Up to Eternal Life (John 4:13-14)
    Apr 28 2025

In John 4:13-14, Jesus speaks truth to the Samaritan woman at the well: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst.” He offers something far greater than physical water—He offers a divine gift. Unlike the temporary satisfaction the world offers, Jesus gives us a spring of living water that never runs dry.

In this episode, we explore the meaning behind Jesus' words and how they reveal the greater gift He brings, greater than the gift of the well that Jacob brought, and greater than all the other gifts the world around us can offer. Jesus offers an artisan well, one that is overflowing—Jesus is the source of true fulfillment.

  • 22: If You Knew the Gift (John 4:10)
    Apr 21 2025

In John 4:10, Jesus speaks to the Samaritan woman at the well and reveals a truth that still echoes today: “If you knew the gift of God...” She didn’t realize who she was speaking with, or the life-changing gift He was offering — Living Water. How often do we miss divine moments because we don’t recognize who’s before us? Jesus stands ready to give us more than we ask — not just physical sustenance, but eternal life, peace, and purpose. Are we truly aware of the One who seeks a relationship with us? This verse challenges us to open our eyes and hearts to the gift of God and to recognize the presence of Jesus in our everyday lives.

    John 4:10

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
