Albert Mohler: President Trump’s Proclamation on Easter

  • Resumen

  • It isn't at all unusual that the White House would put out a statement, time for national celebrations, and so you have presidents making statements on Christmas and Easter and all kinds of holidays in between. What makes the statement just released by this White House by President Donald J. Trump more interesting is the fact that it includes explicit doctrinal content that I think is pretty unprecedented.

In the statement, the President says in the name of himself and the First Lady Melania Trump, he says that this celebration is about Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. It culminates in the terms of the events related to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead.

The President's statement says, "During this sacred week, we acknowledge that the glory of Easter Sunday cannot come without the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross, and it speaks of the truth of the empty tomb and His resurrection from the dead." Perhaps many people will not notice that at the end of the statement. He also makes very clear the fact that this is a celebration of the truth, beauty and goodness of Christ's eternal kingdom in heaven.

No small thing that a President of the United States would acknowledge a higher kingdom than that of the United States of America. No small thing. It's very important. Think about it.
