this book was amazing.
the storyline is great and the way the book just holds your attention.

A great series!

So I started book 1 way back before the series had finished and it just didn’t click for me. When I saw the complete collection I decided to give it another go. Maybe it was the VAs or that I was genuinely hoping that I would enjoy it, but man am I glad I gave it another shot. From chapter one of book one to the last line of the series, I was hooked! The back and forth between the two heroes point of view was brilliant and I wish more stories were like it. Highly recommend reading and/or listening to this series.

Character Development

If you enjoy character building then this story should entertain you. Alex and J grow throughout the story.

Boring, Boring, Boring.

I tried really hard to get through these books, but I gave up after book 3. To me. this was more a slice of life, with some Kung Fu thrown in, some sex added, and struggling MC's that become OP. The books are described that the students are learning to become heroes at the academy through ascension to defeat demons. In addition, it is described as a cross of MHA, IP Man and a harem. I am a huge fan of MHA and IP Man, but this was just way too watered down. The books seem more concerned about describing the girls than focusing on the ascension or demon storyline.

After book 3 we have only seen 1 demon battle, very little actual ascension story and too much boring harem scenes. I kept hoping it would get more exciting. After 3 books, I am giving up. This series was not for me.
